A lot of the remaining prisoners should probably be sent back to the countries of which they are citizens. Surely we’ve already gotten any useful intelligence info out of them that we’re ever going to. And a lot of them are from countries like Saudi Arabia who will deal with them a whole lot more harshly (and quickly) than we ever will. Where the countries they belong to can be pretty well counted on to make them wish they were back at Guantanamo, or simply execute them quickly, they should be sent home.

Do you know if they are still transferring prisoners to Guantanamo or are most of the terrorist inmates from the early days of the Afghanistan campaign?

This would be an acceptable plan. Send them back home where the prisons are medieval and probably don’t have soccer, nice prayer rugs and glazed chicken.
But, don’t send them to Kansas, please Mr. President.
Vacating Gitmo would be a way to eliminate a stupid DemocRat television ad attacking the GOP and administration for “torturing” poor prisons at during the elections.
