One final note: the possibility of ‘standard’ references cannot exist within a worldview based in chance and continuous change. Situational ethics (impulses of the moment)——that’s all you have.

Then none of the sources referenced can be taken as anything other than singular instances. You're arguing that they're establishing a "logical consistency" based on "chance and continuous change".

We're being asked to accept the proposition that America cannot survive Evolutionary Humanism, without any clear definition of exactly what that is. It appears that the only "safe" conclusion to be reached is that it is a matter of national security that we get rid of all the evolutionists.

spirited irish claims 'tenets:

Furthermore, your talk of 'rights' is likewise inconsistent with the tenets of evolutionary humanism for the same reason as above. All you have is whatever 'privileges' the higher evolved deign to allow you as per their 'impulses' of the moment.

Where can we find a standard reference on theology or philosophy that lists these "tenets of evolutinary humanism" you keep talking about? Are you just making all of this up as you go?
tacticalogic

All you may have is whatever 'privileges' the highly evolved deign to allow you according to what their impulses of the moment intuit.
All of which will eventually lead to the recreation of the hellish nightmare within which millions of Russians suffered and died.

One final note, - he's making it all up. That's all he has.

I have a friend who knows Hebrew, really knows it, and he told me the same thing some 25 years ago; that there's a difference in the use of the words between verse one in Gen 1 and verse two.

The word in the first verse is to make something new, or for the first time.

The word in the second verse is to remake or recreate.

His thinking was that God had created the world and when Satan fell, Satan destroyed it, as he does with everything. (vs 2. He told me the Hebrew indicates the earth became formless and void)

Then God had to make it fit for human habitation.

He also told me that it was believed that the earth as it was in verse one was a place of great mineral wealth and beauty, based on verses in Ezekial (I believe) that talk about the fall of Satan and the king of Tyre.

I thought it was pretty interesting, FWIW.

If find it redundant to say that a physical entity ("the earth") is without form or substance, when being without substance seems to necessarily imply an absence of form.

Some languages use that technique of repetition for emphasis. We don't in English, so it seems strange to us.

Not only THAT but some kind of "civilization" must have existed, even if only of fallen angels.. You know before the angels or whoever they were destroyed everything.. For how long? Who knows?..

But it is an interesting possibility that this happened.. PROOF? of course there is none.. Except maybe the Dino's all of them and MORE.. Strata in soil, geology and noticed in mountains.. When God REMODELED the place, maybe AGAIN(this time)..

The bible don't go into this but then this info could be on a need to know basis.. spiritually.. Anyway it is an interesting prospect.. Whether true or not effects Jesus work not a wit.. but would/could explain where Satan and the fallen angels came from..

Obviously you've never had children or communicated with their "nursing" mother..
Some kids bite, some don't.. The first bite is when many kids get moved over to eat REAL FOOD.. Logical really..

Thank you both for the background information to that interpretation of Genesis.

Interesting discussion.. Boopie thinks I've off my meds no doubt on this.. Also if this "previous civilization of angels " is true.. Then the subject why was man created in the first place comes to mind.. Even WHAT IS man.. This is WHY I came up with the possiblity that mankinds "spirit" is in reality a repentant fallen angel getting a second chance and humans are really "Prodigal ANGELS(spirits)".. being TESTED as Humans.. TESTED to prove their mettle.. This would be a wondrous example of the prodigal son..

Of course the "queue" of fallen angels standing in line, getting human bodies after humans conceive them(those bodies) would/could be long for when the spirit is added to them(bodies)..

Science/Spiritual FICTION?... maybe... MAYBE NOT...
Welcome to my sandbox child of god..
Lets play UNIVERSE.... You be the fallen angel, I'll be a good angel... O.K..

Personally, I reject the interpretation out-of-hand.

It is very close to the vision of Edgar Cayce's linked below - and also very close to a discussion being held on a different thread which I decline to engage any further.

The Past Lives of Jesus According to Edgar Cayce

sigh...

Thanks AlamoGirl, I won’t ping you to the other. Back in the day, when I read everything, I read a lot of Edgar Cayce. Finally I was struck by the realization that new publications of his work were coming out all the time. With a little research, I saw that different people were writing them and they were being published through the EC Foundation. Well, follow the money trail. Most of what’s out now, he never said or wrote, lol. Reminds me of all the lost writings of another “messiah”, one that used to write science fiction. There’s a new revelation everytime they need to go up a degree. Plus not to mention how right they are on all those prophesies that have come to pass

I am not surprised at all.

For one thing, it seems as if the New Age mystics have hijacked everything they can get their hands on. Enoch is a respectable ancient manuscript but it becomes discredited because they have put their own "spin" on it to fit their mysticism. sigh...

Ditto for the Kaballah – the oral tradition of the Jewish mystics – which was not to be put in writing. But since someone recorded a part of it, the new agers have picked it up as well, “spinning” it to fit their presuppositions. The result is that many people erroneously equate Jewish mysticism to New Age mysticism

No surprise then that they would do the same with anything Edgar Cayce or any other other documented mystic did or wrote (Nostradamus et al) - or myriad serious attempts among the sciences to explore the pysche and strange phenomenon.

Likewise with some of the bizarre confessions.

BTW, I read somewhere that it used to be rather customary to backdate a prophesy to disclose a current event and declare it as “proof” of God's anointing of a political leader’s authority.

As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man. – Proverbs 27:19

If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god; Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart. – Psalms 44:20-21

Then it is redundant to say you have neither.

I think it was brilliant. Not only does it make the status of the earth very clear, but the use of such clear philosophical logic makes the notion that Genesis was invented by ignorant bronze age goat herders all the more absurd

We're going to have to agree to disagree, on this, and many other points...

Need to know? No.

Nice to know? Sure. It's fascinating stuff.

Affecting my everyday spiritual life? Not likely.

Gen. 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and “replenish” the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
