Hi durasell, re your:"Nobody likes paying taxes, but they are a necessity...

Are there any services provided to you by federal public employees that you really wanted and would prefer to buy from them rather than other sources?

In my own experience private/parochial schools have been more cost-effective than government schools. The Swiss model of national defense (all able-bodied folks trained and armed as a national militia) seems a lot more cost-effective than ours. And we may be overpaying for public roadway maintenance.

I doubt most of us need/request much of anything from federal public employees.

What few tasks we would want to hire them for can probably best be funded by our traditional National Tarrif/import tax.

Parochial schools are subsidized by the church and in the midst of closing down at a health clip.

I require a lot from my local and fed employees. I want the water to be safe, the food to be safe, the prescription drugs to be safe. I want my mail delivered on time. I would also like continued enforcement of building codes, so that buildings don’t fall on me. Also, I’m not particularly keen on the idea of private police and fire departments.
