The hell support better judges argument is a cop out. That was just a start, you'll see further down the page where I've suggested that an anti-abortion Republican President would indeed support legislation. Part of convincing people in the mushy middle to go along with us, is to show how absolutely extreme the other side is. That's the way that anti-gun forces have worked, they've taken NRA support for assault weapons, and used it to demonize the pro-Second Amendment side.

Fred Thompson cast pro-life votes on 34 of the 35 key abortion-related votes measured by the NCHLA during his 8 years in the Senate. That’s a 97% pro-life voting record. I wish it had been 100%, but it indicates a far greater commitment to opposing abortion than has been shown by Rudy McRomney.

086 from your link is interesting:
Key Vote Summary for 086Bill Number: H.R.2020 Bill Title: Treasury Postal Service General Government Appropriations 1996 Date of Vote: 8/5/1995 Short Description: FEHB Plans: Treasury/Postal Appropriations Vote Summary: As passed by the House, the Fiscal Year 1996 Treasury/Postal Appropriations Bill (H.R. 2020) prohibited Federal Employees' Health Benefit (FEHB) programs from paying for abortions, except to save the mother's life. ........ "No" was a pro-life vote. They claim 'No' was the pro-life vote, but the bill was to ban federal funding on abortions except to save the mother's life. I wonder if it was the 'mother's life' exception that made NRLC oppose this??
