Although my last name is a Latin derivative I have traced my ancestry back to the 16th century to England and Scotland. I speak Spanish that I was forced to learn while living and working in South America and later in Mexico City. I was in their country and it was their language. I am a non-hyphenated American.

Point two. Do these people not understand that Latins are Caucasian? The brown skin comes from having ancestors that were Indian. It has nothing to do with the Latino bloodline. Mexico was populated by people from France, England Ireland and other European countries including Spain and Portugal. The other side of the family tree was courtesy of the indigenous population. And furthermore what difference does shades of brown or white make to a mans character?

You’d be amazed at how many people are shocked to see Mexicans of Spanish descent who look more european than Americans do.

You are correct. We see Indians and think Mexican. Tain’t necessarily so.
