Evening call to prayer
I like those words - evening call to prayer...
Dear Lord, let our prayers rise before you as incense and fill our hearts with your Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, God, Almighty,
Please give President Bush abundant vivid inputs by your Holy Spirit . . .
whether directly, with dreams, visions, visitations of You Personally, Lord; by reading Your Word and having phrases leap off in neon colors . . .
Show him the consequences of ignoring your Will and Your Ways regarding our country.
Give him a will set like flint only toward your priorities for him and for our country in these trying times.
Show him the consequences of listening to the voices from satan and his imps human or otherwise.
Give him fear of displeasing you and NO FEAR OF MAN, NO FEAR EVEN OF SATAN. Deliver him of all such fears, Lord.
Protect his life and his family, please. Draw all of them deeper into your will and purposes, into Yourself, Lord.
IN Jesus’ Name.
Amen.

READ: 2 Timothy 1:1-10
Stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 2 Timothy
A few months before my father died of cancer, he wrote me a letter in which he said: I never think of you that I dont offer up a short prayer for you and your success. I know you. I know whats behind you. And I am pretty sure that I understand your goals, the kind of writing you hope to do, and the message you wish to convey. Stay in there and pitch, and may the Lord bless you. I am just so proud and thankful that the Lord let me be your father.
That letter is one of my dads greatest gifts to me.
The New Testament contains two letters from Paul to Timothy, a young man he mentored and considered his true son in the faith (1 Tim. 1:2) and his beloved son (2 Tim. 1:2). The second letter begins with Pauls deeply personal words assuring Timothy of his love and faithful prayers (vv.2-3). Paul affirmed Timothys spiritual heritage (v.5) and his God-given gifts and calling (vv.6-7). Then he encouraged him to live boldly for the gospel of Christ (v.8).
Dads, you can give great encouragement to your children by writing them a letter of love and affirmation. It may be the greatest gift you can give them. Why not sit down and write it from your heart today.
Isaiah 41:10 NRSV
I am praying this over America [God is speaking]:
Do not fear for I am with you [America]
Do not be afraid [America] for I am your God
I will help you [America]
I will strengthen you [America]
I will uphold you [America] with MY victorious right hand
[Did anyone notice God only had to use ONE HAND - which I believe leaves the other hand free - to deliver a LEFT HOOK!]
I was watching UNITED 93 last night, and I have not stopped crying and yelling in rage at my TV. How dare these congress people allow our immigration to run amok .. how dare they scoff at us and tell us to shut up .. when they have already forgotten the people WHO DIED TO SAVE THEIR SORRY REAR ENDS.
I join in prayer for President Bush, the administration and our heroes standing in harm’s way!
On this day of Fathers, it is my prayer that you guide all the daddymens to stand up and embrace their family with a renewal of faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance and prudence.
I pray that they carry these tender virtues from their homes out into our streets.
Please bless all fathers today.
