The above line seems to validate what you say, jude.

Wait for what? would be the question I'd ask of those who wrote the line.

Answer: wait for resolution of the legal case before them.

Nonetheless, the article does assume the oppression of African Americans.

That is political speech, protected by the First Amendment. (I'd also argue that it's not wholly wrong. African-Americans have been and still are oppressed, albeit now by corporate and governmental interests that want to keep them fat, happy, and lazy on governmental handouts.)
