Yeah...I agree there's nothing there! They didn't liable the boys in any way. And what do they have to apologise for, comments about how they believe racism is still an issue in this country?
All the comments were mostly generally about racism. Please someone point out what is wrong about this ad other than the normal socialist, liberal dribble?
If it were you or your child I bet you’d think differently.
Somehow things done to you that affect your real life give such a different perspective from the one given while enjoying anonymity behind a computer screen in the comfort of your armchair.
It was akin to screaming fire in a crowded theatre.
The timing of it.
Given that the ad was released at the time the players were accused, it was perceived as tying racism to the incident. Geez, it wasn't that long ago -- don't you remember this ad being interpreted as the Group of 88 supporting the students and the university against the accused lacrosse players?
Back then the 88 didn't object to that characterization. Back then those 88 weren't saying, "No, no, no. That ad was not judging the players! They're innocent until proven guilty!"
Only NOW are they making these statements.
I was wondering the same thing. Sure, it came out at the wrong moment and was sort of obnoxious because of the timing. But I don't see anything that directly implicates the letter as jumping the gun and condemning the boys before they were judged...
Unless the boys' lawyers can show that this letter helped stir up the pot. Sort of like yelling "fire" in a crowded theater...
