Democrats today have a problem with democracy. We have lost our voice on the issue of promoting democracy abroad -- which means that what was once a core Democratic foreign policy idea is being ceded to the GOP.

Democrats biggest problem w/ Democracy is they don’t believe in it anymore—dictatorship is their way of dealing.
the lib/dems pray to the later of marx & engels.....
somehow democracy is not anticipated in the communist gospels!!!
The Democrats big problem is that they are not Democrats anymore...they’re socialists or outright communists.
That’s right. And today John Kennedy would be a Republican. So current Republicans have shifted to the left, and current Democrats are Socialists. This leaves me with taxation without representation. Time for major changes.
The dems don’t just have a problem with democracy abroad. They don’t like it at home, at least for union members.
The essence of democracy is the willingness to quit haggling when votes are taken and to pull together. The perpetual campaign of the Clintonistas refuses to do that.
The problem with this isn’t that the demoncats don’t want to push democracy. The problem is that the U.S. isn’t a democracy so why should we spread democracy? Our Country is a Republic and there is a HUGE difference between the two.
They’ve ceded democracy to multi-culturism.
I remember being taught in school that the US was a ‘melting pot’ of many cultures. That people moved here, absorbed our cultured and influenced ours with theirs. It was our strength.
Politically, there’s no power in that. Political power is created by highlighting and exploiting differences, i.e. Jesse Jackson.
They view it a crime to even think one culture is better than another, no matter what history has shown. And they view political constructs as cultural.
"We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americansborn in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritageand unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
This much we pledgeand more
In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibilityI welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve itand the glow from that fire can truly light the world.
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for youask what you can do for your country.
My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.
“The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.
We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans—born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage—and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
This much we pledge—and more.”
John F Kennedy
Miserable and bitter people now inhabit the democrat party. Gone are the those who speak for liberty. It is shameful.
If there were any question about their sanity you'd need look no further than to Nancy Pelosi who they have placed at the top of the heap in their Cult of Personality.
Yech!
I've been telling my Dem friends for some years now that if JFK were alive today, he would have no chance of gaining the party's nomination.
Never mind overseas, I’m not sure they’re all that hot on supporting it at home, either.
Exactly. I memorized Kennedy’s inaugural address when I was about 20 years old. He nailed it: defend freedom at any cost. Today’s “Democrats” are international socialists - enemies of the United States. And many Republicans are not much better. That’s why the RNC is losing donations.
Among the things Kennedy said: “So let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth, God’s work must truly be our own.” The individual should assume responsibility for his or her life, not rely on government, or claim to be a “victim” of society.
I must be a criminal. I think the American culture is superior to one the executes people in fount of their family, one that would use a funeral or wedding to as a opportunity to carry out a homicide attack, or one that would designate another culture for extermination.
No, it is a crime to think of America on the level of murdering thugs.
And they are not so good a promoting democracy at home either.
Brother Ted should hang his head in shame and resign to the comfort of his bottle of Dewars
LOL. I memorized it at 18 and gave it during a school speech contest in 1961. I also rang doorbells and delivered campaign literature for JFK in his presidential run in 1960. JFK may not have done much as President, but the soaring eloquence of his speeches was an inspiration to all Americans and the rest of the world.
We are in agreement my friend...
