You could have just said, "No, I can't back up my assertions with quotes by Webb".
I can't imagine anybody cooperating with the DC prosecutors who are attempting to infringe the right to keep and bear arms. The prosecutor there is not your friend. Nor is the prosecutor Webb's friend.
If you insist that the right thing to do is to admit to an unConstitutional felony without any prospect for helping a friend, then feel free to do so. I won't. Nor do I expect any rational person to do so.
That is not now, nor was it ever the issue.
I know it's incredibly naive of me, but I'd expect someone with Webb's supposed "character" to have the cajones to tell the truth.
Likewise, for those of us who happen to believe in the 2nd Amendment, it is incredibly irresponsible not to know where your weapons are at all times.
The quotes are out there, although Webb has removed the statement from his officail website. But what he said was "this was an oversight on the part of Thompson."
