I don’t know what the explanation is. Maybe the Peter Principle—he was promoted beyond his level of competence? Maybe he is a good fighter but a stupid politician? In any case, he left office in disgrace, with extremely low poll numbers.

Actually you could say the same thing about Sharon. He was one of Israel’s great heroes, but he’s the guy who put Israel where it is today, pulling out of the Gaza strip, forming a new party, making it possible for Olmert to take office. Ironic, since he came to power precisely because the country was disgusted with Barak.

Only when the palestinians kill each other does the MSM show no bias.

But once the Israelis do anything to try to protect themsleves, its “HUMANITARIAN CRISIS” 24 hour a day pro-palestinian coverage and arab street outrage from around the world.

Stupid idea and immoral. It is not worth one IDF soldiers life. Let the stew in their own filth. If they fire rockets bomb them or walk-in artillary until it stops.

If they are foolish enough to go in, they better count on running them all out to Egypt or Jordan. Otherwise it is a waste of precious life.

I hope Isreal, in the initial stages of the assault, seals the Gaza/Egypt border.

Then the terrorists will have nowhere to go but the sea.

So the original order was, “send me a defense chief who looks good in drag?”

Why do they have to invade with an army? Why not just cut off their water, fuel and food, blockade the sea, and let nature take its course. The people who ought to be as worried about this as the Israelis are the Egyptian, who are now seeing the help and tolerance they have giving Hamas result in the formation of a toxic and aggressive Islamic republic on their doorstep. Nice work, Mubarak.

Someone should remind Barak of Napoleon’s dictum: Never interrupt an enemy when he is making a mistake.

"Instead, why not just turn off the water and electricity the next time a rocket flies toward Israel from Hamastan?"

Because Israel would be accused of using excessive force?

"ISRAEL’s new defence minister Ehud Barak is planning an attack on Gaza within weeks to crush the Hamas militants who have seized power there."

Israel should not attack Gaza at this time. Let Hamas finish off Fatah in the West Bank. Then the next rocket attack from Hamas should prompt an all out invasion by the IDF of Gaza and the West Bank to destory Hamas, drive out the Arabs and occupy the territory permanently. In the meantime, America must stop sending any aid to Fatah, Hamas or the "palestinians." Let S. Arabia waste its money on them.

Not one Christian or Jew should die from a weapon provided by the West.. It is immoral and against any semblance of reason to Arm Terrorists.

NO MONEY to the MURDEROUS PALI VERMIN...Not for anything.

When Israel attacks GAZA use nothing but Aircraft, Tanks and Mech Armor. Blow the Hell out of them. No Israeli Soldiers should be put at risk to protect one Pali. If you take fire from a building Knock It Down...They all dance in the street when Christians and Jews are murdered and it must end..

End it little Israel if you really have compassion for them crush them and end end the cycle of violence...Look to William Tecumseh Sherman and follow his example.

This an Barriers would work in Iraq as well.

Terrrorist women must be killed to win the war. Death of women and children must occur to achieve victory.

When they are the wives and mothers of terrorists, they are enemy and legitimate targets.

Bert you misunderstand.

There is a difference between not requiring troops to enter buildings or take unreasonable risks to insure non-combatants are not killed while attacking an enemy verses targeting non-combatants.

The first is legal and civilian deaths that result from that instance are unfortunate but lawful. The second is not. Nor should it be.
