Actually, what he said was about not letting the situation in the West Bank become chaotic like it is in Gaza. He didn’t say anything about protecting Hamas.

It’s a good strategy, really. It is far better if your enemies blow up one at a time, rather than both together.

That is, if the West Bank manages to remain relatively orderly, while Gaza descends into bloody chaos and anarchy, then Israel can focus on Gaza without worrying too much about a two-front (or three or four front, if you include Lebanon and Syria) opening up.

The bottom line is that Fatah is just as villainous as is Hamas, only giving lip service to peace. So if they end up permanently divided, then Israel wins.

Hopefully, Hamas will be as onerous and vicious to the people of Gaza as was the Taliban to the Afghans. May it be the law of the gun, the rule of whim and cruelty, insanity and viciousness. And may every sane Gazan flee to Egypt to get away from it, and stay there.

The final result may be that the only people left in Gaza are banditos, fighting among themselves over scraps.

Very true. The actual title of the article is "Israel Will Not Stand Idly By," but the threadmeister invented his own for some reason.

Spot-on analysis, btw.
