"...tally included 50 Democrats voting in favor. This issue transcends party."
You are correct but lets not forget why the 'Rats don't like this bill...as far as the 'Rats are concerned, they want these illegals made citizens WITHOUT paying ANY fines and without ANY consequences.
Again, as I have said many times before, the 'Rats are only interested in votes & power. They couldn't care less about these people becoming assimilated...in fact, if they NEVER become assimilated that would be just fine with the 'Rats because these illegals will be forever dependent on the "Mommy Party."

So what’s your point? he was in favor of allowing them to stay last year but is not in favor of it anymore? If you ask McCain or Bush they will also say they are against amnesty. Actually I don’t know anyone who says the are in favor of amnesty. But some people are pushing for it.

I was disappointed to see Thompson touting we must regularize the 12-20 million already here. Was it Fred Thompson or Tommy Thompson who said this?

Tancredo and Hunter would make a nice ticket. Except it would be hard to choose one over the other for POTUS. I would choose Hunter because of his past military service and the fact he's more politically mature than Tancredo. Tancredo would be perfect as VP, since VP's are traditionally more aggressive anyway.

what about the 12 to 20 million? Most of them will leave on their own when enforcement begins. It's not rocket science. When Eisenhower (exactly 53 years ago today) starting cracking down on illegals, the other illegals panicked and left.
That's why that argument is a strawman. All you have to do is enforce existing laws and seal the borders, and that problem will take care of itself.
