WASHINGTON - A major Indian-American organization yesterday accused Barack Obama's presidential campaign of "engaging in the worst kind" of stereotyping for slamming Bill and Hillary Clinton's close ties to India.
Obama's team circulated an opposition research memo Thursday, hours after Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's congressional financial disclosure forms were made public. The statement accused the former first couple of reaping "significant financial rewards from their relationship with the Indian community." The Obama memo bashed Bubba for investing in companies that ship U.S. jobs to India, and accused his wife of raking in gobs of campaign cash from Indian-Americans and favoring Indian businesses over heartland jobs. It labeled her "Sen. Clinton (D-Punjab)."

Indians are cannibalistic aliens from the planet Kurry who want to kill us and eat us.

Wow, I didn't think my satirical post #3 would be the last word on your thread. Hope I didn't snuff out discussion with that one. I usually stay away from satire, as it's too easily misinterpreted as being serious (which I often do myself). Plus satire is too closely related to sarcasm, IMO, which most people have heard is "the protest of the weak".
I'm not surprised at the racist views of the "Left". The Left is historically the biggest bunch of bigots in politics. They count colors, count incomes, count languages, affirmative action requires intense awareness of race and ethninticity, while a meritocracy does not, and even discourages such awareness on the grounds of being irrelevant.
I can view Obama's hostility to Indians as that of being someone who's protecting "his" possessions (in this case, status as the "right" minority within the US) against interloping outsiders.
Little does he know the vast diversity of Indians (though after my trip there I no longer stand for rose colored reports of India). Still, his stereotypes will fit some Indians (poor, even illiterate) and not at all fit other Indians (like, oh, software architects and rocket scientists (and for those who don't know, the President of India is, literally, a rocket scientist))
Anyway, it will be interesting to see how various groups react to various other groups.
All the more reason to have a controlled and fully managed immigration policy (which some years resets to "0" immigrants, to make sure we're going the direction we want to go on these things) so that we have no avoidable, unpleasant shocks as the decades unfold.
