President Bush hasn’t changed — he’s the most CONSISTENT, principled leader I’ve ever had the pleasure to observe and support! . . . It’s SOME (a minority) of those who once supported him that have changed — a combination of short memories, intellectual hypocrisy, and political malleability — after all, if one of those ‘super smart’ radio personalities says the President is wrong, then ‘by golly’ he must be . . . GAG!

I’ve reviewed a lot of the polls taken and major commentaries written during Reagan’s second term — the ‘conservative’ purists deserted him as well, lead by none other than Bill Buckley and the National Review crowd . . . history really does have a way of repeating itself!! . . . Fortunately for Reagan, he didn’t have to contend with a 24/7 media cycle, cable ‘news’ channels, and the ‘blogosphere’, all of which have exposed President Bush to unprecedented and unrelenting analysis/criticism . . . Despite the constant scrutiny, however, President Bush still polls in the 30s with 70%ish support from Republicans — Truman would have LOVED such numbers after WWII and during the Korean War!!
Great post, Deb!
