President George W. Bush delivers remarks at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., Thursday, June 16, 2005. "In America, people of faith have no corner on compassion, but people of faith need compassion to be true to the call to "Ame al projimo como a sí mismo," love your neighbor like you'd like to be loved yourself. That's a universal call," said the President. White House photo by Eric Draper

“i wonder how many of you who are so “eloquently” using all the sarcasm and ridicule you can muster towards our President actually think about what Jesus’ heart would be toward those who seek the sanctuary of the free in the land of the brave, like we have here in America?”

Take your commie “liberation theology” elsewhere.

I am not a Christian, but am familiar with many creeds of the faith, sometimes more than the adherents.

Your argument is the same one that says that high taxes and transfer payments are what Jesus would want. It’s the same argument that Liberal Jews make - that ‘social justice’ and socialism are the same. I utterly reject it.

How is it compassionate to the citizens of a free nation to let it be overrun by people who will destroy it?

Mexico isn’t so bad. It’s the wealthiest country in Latin America. THere are way poorer countries too. Should we stage a mass evacuation of Africa and bring them all here?

This is a false compassion!

"I trust that President George Bush is truly keeping his relationship with God in first place"

The President is wanting to reward law breakers, and is in the process of undermining our country. A president who keeps his "relationship with God" over fulfilling his duties as the President of The United States should RESIGN, because they are unfit for office. The president is supposed to be the leader of our country, who will protect and uphold the constitution, and look out for our best interests. We don't elect a dammed pope when we go to vote every four years.

The Mexican flag is Photoshopped, right? I tried to find an unaltered version by Yahoo image searching on “bush cheerleader,” but I mainly got some images that would not be safe for FR or work. :^O

what would work better?

Intelligence
acerbic wit
respectful disagreement
Letters of denouncement w/o insults
Withholding contributions and explaining why.
Donating more to those whom you do support
Getting involved yourself to work for those whom you do respect or support
Attending local GOP or other party meetings
Letters or phone calls at the local congressional level

I am surprised you were not able to come up with a few thoughts of your own. But then as I said before, insult, which is what derision means, is the last resort of those who lack the capacity to deal intelligently with a problem.

Done every one of those things, and do them all inside any given month, but you have no way of knowing that. You just assumed I haven’t.

Sometimes it’s good to just blow off steam. This kind of thread is a great place for it.

Bush is a big disappointment.

I am sure you will find many at DU who will agree with you on this subject and on the subject of holding the President up to ridicule.

Well he did say he was a uniter - not a divider.

Conservatives supported him through two elections and he stabs us in the back by calling us unpatriotic bigots. He's just a typical Northeastern liberal Republican who happened to be born in Texas. He left us, we didn't leave him. He's a traitor to me, I don't care if he does claim to be a Republican.

He didn't even make his tax cuts permanent when he had the chance. I think the liberals are lying when they say they hate him, he's the best thing to happen to them since FDR. He's the biggest reason the Dims control Congress.

Bush is a big disappointment.

On that we both agree!!

We differ only on how we respond to it.

Take care.

I hope that FR is not becoming a site that puts our POTUS up for a derisive captioning effort.

Second POTUS in a row. If they honorably fulfill the duties of the office, they don't deserve it. These two have deserved it.

Bush has dishonored the office by refusing to adequately secure the borders and protect us from this foreign invasion.

I hold him in contempt because of that malfeasance of office.

i said nothing about higher taxes or transfer payments. This is a much bigger and more important issue, about embracing those and making a way for those who seek shelter in our world to be responsible and to contribute to our great society. Mexicans are not destroying this country, my friend. We absolutely need to execute the laws currently on the books, while maintain the democracy and open society that we establish more than 200 years ago.

That strawman argument isn’t going to fly. We are to respect the laws unless they go against God’s laws and the first thing an illegal does when he crosses our border is break the law.

It's probable that the Lord sees people who enter this country illegally as shelter seekers. But it's also probable that the Lord sees them as money grubbing, brutish, greedy, self-interested, disrespectful trespassers.

Neither you nor I have access to the Lord's views on this issue.

They haven't done anything with all the current laws passed, my only option is

1. "BUILD THE FENCE"

then we'll talk.

See how many go back before the fence is built then we'll analyze the problem.

As I see it, both want a HILLARY win.

Are you follower of a man or a policy's...?

.. do you support something because someone tells you to support it or do you decide based on your own best understanding and principals

Are you the mind numb robot taking your marching order from on high like the left accuses the right of all the time and the "cult of personalty" left really does......(See the Left's collection of "Fearless Leaders du jour": Clinton, Gore, Che, Castro, Mao, Lenin, Marx, etc., etc., etc.)

Sorry Bush is flat wrong on this and border on a Quisling like sellout of the nation...he deserves the grief

"I hold him in contempt because of that malfeasance of office."

Good for you... I disagree with his position on this and several others things. It's fine to have strong and vocal disagreement with his positions... and make strong postings against the positions. Personal, derisive and mocking is what I hoped would be avoided.

If you feel that it's right to make nasty and personal attacks on him... knock yourself out. I'm sure that you will find some company here.

There are other sites that may even be more ugly in the derision. May be appealing to you as well.
