Sigh... yes, and that's every bit as revered a reference as Jeff Foxworthy's Redneck Dictionary. How wonderful that they have a dictionary online now where one can go both to justify misspellings and to better be able to communicate with the functionally illiterate. There's a Klingon dictionary out there as well. Should we start accepting those words as spellings?

Look, as I said, if you did it on purpose (and it appears you did) then fine. Since you have that reference handy, can you see if "dieing" is listed there as well, so I can take it to the other thread I mentioned?

Except I’ve run across putatively well educated 20 somethings who use the word as so defined.

As to ‘dieing’ - I’m not familiar with it. Perhaps it is a term from a tool and die shop, having something to do with using a die.

Or could it be a variant of dyeing, translated into a more modern spelling?
