Hamas will have a hard time providing for the impoverished strip's 1.4 million inhabitants. I'm not sure welfare is real high on these boys' agenda. Judging by what's happening in the rest of their territory that task is for other people. Wonder when we'll get the bill?

Actually as I understand it Hamas won the election by being less corrupt and providing some services instead of stealing all the foreign money. They are terrorists but mostly honest ones for now. I suspect they defeated Fatah in Gaza because the Fatah fighters had become little more than paid thugs keeping their corrupt bosses in power. The Hamas gunmen were fighting for an idea no matter how wrong or twisted.
