CNN’s ‘Quick Hit’ on ‘Southern Conservatives’ (Implication is That They're Drunks)
NewsBusters.org ^ | 6/15/2007 | Matthew Balan

Here’s something a little more light for a Friday afternoon, but demonstrates the mainstream media’s biased view of the world.

Among the "Quick Hits" on CNN’s "American Morning" on Friday was a brief on how the drought in the Southeast is affecting the production of Jack Daniels Tennessee whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The water levels in the cave spring that supplies the Jack Daniels distillery are "dangerously low" according to the brief by co-host John Roberts.

After giving the brief, Roberts and substitute weather forecaster Reynolds Wolf began the weather report with the following exchange:

JOHN ROBERTS: "Reynolds Wolf is here with a look at the weather forecast, and somebody said to me this morning that that will get Southern conservatives interested in global warming." (Laughs)

REYNOLDS WOLF: "There's no question about it. Absolutely."

I guess the "secret" is out that left-wing media thinks that Southerners are a bunch of hillbilly drunks, and don’t care about climate change like "enlightened" liberals do.

Okay I know I’m just a Southernor, but wouldn’t the melting of the icecaps, by definition, mean a rise in groundwater, thus a rise in the level of springs?

Well, you certainly can’t ignore MSM bias. NewsBusters and the Media Research Center would be out of work!

Conservatives know good booze. Now if the production of wine spritzers was affected, I’m sure the left would be terrified.

Or, what’s that stuff they put in pink squrrels? Yeah, that would affect lefties too.

Although, Ted Kennedy puts a monkey wrench into that theory.

actually, you are wrong about that.

the mainSLIME media/financial/social/business elites of the east/LEFT coasts see EVERYBODY who is NOT from those "wunnerful, wunnerful, oh so LEFTIST" places as "fly-OVER country".

the truth is that they DESPISE us & look DOWN on us "ordinary people, who lead hum-drum, pitiful lives". furthermore, the truth is that they think everyone but "the smart set" on those LEFTIST/socialist coasts are STUPID & should be permanently subservient to their "betters".

that is the UNvarnished truth.

Of course, neither would the MSM drive-bys mention that the Lynchburg distillery is located in a dry county.

That’s still true, isn’t it?

Turner is actually a Yankee raised in the South.

Turner was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was nine years old, his family moved to Savannah, Georgia. He attended the McCallie School, a private preparatory school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Turner attended Brown University and was vice-president of the Brown Debating Union. He was also a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Turner initially majored in Classics. After learning of this, Turner's father wrote him a letter saying that his son's choice of major made him "appalled, even horrified," and that he "almost puked."[1] Turner later changed his major to economics. Turner was expelled from Brown in 1960 for having an unauthorized female visitor in his dormitory room.

He certainly talks Old South (like me) which is one of the few things to his credit.

It’s called drive-by demonization....

With the Clinton tenacle securely positioned at CNN, I expect this is MINOR to what we will see in the days after Hillary’s Coronation as candidate...
