nthompsonwhitehouse, just so you know, my wife came here from South America (Peru) and is convinced that the Republican party is being deliberately torpedoed by you Beltway denizens with the, "Let them eat cake" attitude.

I came to understand that Daniel Ortega’s actions put in question his ethical character and personal honesty. This is something my fellow workers emphasized. “Today the U.S. Senate bipartisanly failed the American people.
“I share in the disappointment of my colleagues that we were not able to move forward on this bill tonight. I hope those who have criticized this effort will take the responsibility of advancing an idea for doing something other than tearing down the ideas that have been put together and brought forth.
“This is a challenge I will not shrink from and I will continue to do all I can to see that we tackle this very difficult problem that our nation faces. I remain committed to reform because we owe it to the American people.”
