The New York Times ^ | June 15, 2007 | ROBERT PEAR and JEFF ZELENY

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

As Rush pointed out, Talk Radio was the only outlet defending Lott after his Strom moment.

Trent Lott? I thought he was going to retire when he lost his majority leader seat? If he’s for illegal immigration amnesty, let him vote for it. Then let his constituancy vote for his leadership stance. It’s called Democracy. Last I hear, talk radio did’nt get to vote.

Aren't these the senators who called actors, onto the floor of the senate, who were in a farm movie to advise them on Federal Farm Policy?

Burn DC To The Ground!!!

Hey Trent.

If Talk Radio ran America.....

Pelosi and Reed would not be in the positions they are in today.

Iraq would have been done with. Our military would have been allowed to finish the job.

The borders would have been secured on 9/12/2001.

And you Mr Lott, would only be the Senator from Mississippi. And nothing else.

So sometimes talk radio is a friend, and sometimes it’s a foe? (in his mind)

Yup, who in government would want to be bothered by the actual WILL of the actual CITIZENS?

He’s lost his mind.

Great example of the need for term limits. When they stay in DC too long, they take on a “ruler” like attitude.

All I can see is that there is a problem that the voters of Mississippi have to deal with.

What say y'all?

He sounds like Hillary Clinton and Hugo Chavez. I remember the speech she gave about “stealing profits” for big gov’t programs. Is Trent Lott going to take talk radio from us.

One other thought, Lott is also showing his elitist attitude and just how he views the very people who put him in his lofty seat. He sees the people as vassals, who need to be led around by the nose. He is upset with talk radio because he believes them to have stolen away our fealty to him.

How exactly Trent Lott sees this as a problem that he needs to solve is beyond me.

Because, like you stated, it gives 'we the people' free speech. That's a no-no to those that are used to having it their own way. What a bunch of control freaks. Next, hillary will be saying the republicans want to curtail talk radio.

It tell me one thing - our voice needs to be louder - to offset the spineless republicans.

Whaddya say?

Hoodink Statement of the Year, by any national Republican?

Got my vote so far, though the recent offerings of G.W. Bush and L. Graham are close.
