Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.

Lott doesn't care, he just got re-elected to another juicy 6 year term. In 2012 he'll probably retire anyway, that's why he's out there pushing this AMNESTY crap. If Mississippians can recall him, they should.
Maybe he can be removed as the Minority Whip.
Sen Lott is an experienced, talented parliamentarian. His threat should be taken seriously, and anything having to do with fairness doctrine or the airwaves should be watched closely.
The problem is those who are illegally coming into our country. The problem is the "lawmakers" who think nothing of GRANTING AMNESTY to lawbreakers from another country....who think nothing of encouraging lawbreaking by the companies who line their own pockets.
I like to think he has been misquoted or misconstrued somehow?
Someone else might have said this already, but Savage has been talking about this for a long time. I've also read some CTs about it. But it sounds like Lott is brazenly outing their plans, lol.
"How dare the peasants question the intelligentsia".
And I’m sick of these politicians who think we have chips in our brains (already) and can be controlled by talk radio. I hardly EVER get to listen to anyone on the radio, and I’ve been against amnesty and its inherent unfairness as long as I’ve been alive. And I am a first-generation American, Mr. Lott!
bttt
Lott's a dimbulb....that's why.
It’s macaroni!
Geez....can anything be more obvious as to what they think of us "serfs"?
Lott stinks and the sad thing is he will be reelected. Another case for term limits. Absolute power......
and for consolation, Alan Colmes Dogcatcher of D.C.
Great idea!
Talk radio as it stands now consists of people exercising their rights to free speech. The hosts and callers are all speaking out on issues of the day.
How exactly Trent Lott sees this as a problem that he needs to solve is beyond me.
It's scary to hear Trent Lott talking about this because the RATS are already trying to do it. He has become our enemy! The following an excerpt from Wikkipedia, regarding the "Fairness Doctrine."
As of early 2007, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), along with Representatives Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), and Louise Slaughter (D-NY) have announced their support of legislation which would reverse the 1987 FCC decision and restore the Fairness Doctrine.[4][5]
It has been routinely criticized by conservatives in the media as a means of keeping their views from being expressed or of deliberately cutting their available air time in half.
fofl! perfect!!!
Trent Lott is an embarrassment to Mississippi. I predict he will be challenged in the Republican primary and will lose. He is a loose cannon and he is biting the hand that fed him. When he made that stupid statement about Strom Thurmond and lost the Senate Majority leadership, talk radio defended him. The liberal media, that really controls the news, absolutely vilified him and hounded him until he had to step down. He doesn’t know who his real friends are and who his real enemies are. With that in mind, it is time for such a confused man to just resign and go into private life. He does NOT represent the majority of Mississippians who elected him.
Thanks! Tip of the hat to you.
