Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.

I am so mad at Trent Lott right now that I could bit nails into! If he is reelected again, I propose the Union collectively remove statehood status from Mississippi. And second, as a proud Southerner, I will regard Mississippi as the new Alabama, trailer trash and all! For people to reelect that Son — - -—ch, it must be full of inbreds! Can you tell I’m pissed? I had better log-off before I say something that I might truly regret. I’ve managed to avoid that thus far.
“Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”
That pesky 1st ammendment thingy is getting in the way again......
The frog is noticing a temperature rise....
If the electorate suddenly took a hard swing to the right, 90% of the libbo politicians would swing to the right with them, politicians to the end, enough to make you vomit.
Hillary, is that you?
Considering his behavior towards Ted Kennedy lately, that sort of thing shouldn't embarass him at all.
What’s wrong with these guys? Have we been blind or are they acting weird lately? Are they being forced to say this stuff? Something in the water? Leaders might think things and talk behind closed doors but to call their base names, talk about stopping grass roots, messing with talk radio...It’s a political end. What is going on? They are panicing over a bill that none of them like. It’s like their tails or on fire (by the way, I like the tail hat:’)
Wait ‘til he finds out talk radio is not his problem. WE’RE his problem. Imagine his surprise in ‘08. Surprise! Suprise! Surprise!
There. Fixed it.
The Fairness Doctrine is the only conceivable way Congress can "deal with" the "problem" of talk radio.
You bet that's what he talking about/threatening.
How DARE “We, The PEOPLE..” inject our opinions into the debate!
Don’t the sheeple know that Congress has LOBBYIST’s that decide what the proper positions on the issues should be?
The only way to deal with blackmail is to take the offensive. Step forward, say you have made mistakes and tell who is holding it against you. Refuse to resign or address it ever again. Just an “I thought you ought to know) Most people would understand and those that don’t probably aren’t going to vote for you anyway.
“Talk radio is running America. We have to do something about that problem,” is as arrogant as Bush’s “Meet me at the signing!” (in regards to the comprehensive immigration reform, read AMNESTY).
Who do these arrogant bastards think we are? Their slaves? How dare they speak to us in these terms! We are Americans!
I could hardly stand Bush before but now he has me pissed off!
When Bush was first elected in 2000, he broke Presidential precedent by not going first to the Prime Ministers of Canada and England. Instead, he went to visit then-Prez Vicente Fox de Mexico. This alone tells you where he has been coming from since the day he set foot in the White House.
People talk about his brother Jeb, Gov. of Florida. Everyone knows that Jeb went to university in Mexico where he met a Mexican gal and married her. What most people don’t realize is that his wife is tied BIG TIME into Mexican oil.
I’m mad as hell!
Gimme an “F”, Gimme a “U”,....
But it’s OK for Daily KOS, MOVEON.org and Huffington to have phone briefings with the Democratic leadership.
Trent has a penchant for saying stupid, stupid things.
I think it’s way past time that a couple dozen recall efforts were cranked up.
Starting with this plastic-haired Nazi wannabe.
“Talk radio running America” Now there is an idea.
Rush Limbaugh President
Sean Hannity Vice President
Mark Livine Secretary of Defense
Laura Ingraham Secretary of State
Michael Medved Education Secretary
Michael Savage Head of Border Security
Bill Bennett Treasury Secretary
Glenn Beck Energy Secretary
Neal Boortz Cabinet Adviser
Larry Elder Cabinet Adviser
Mike Gallager Cabinet Adviser
Mike Reagan Cabinet Adviser
Trent Lott and his ilk in Washington are very arrogant and used to having their own way. Talk Radio is a challenge to their power. And they intend to hold on to their power - whatever it takes. Fairness Doctrine, snarky scandal-mongering and lawsuits against Rush, Hannity - whatever it takes.
When the Republican-controlled House defied the Senate, the President, the Wall Street Journal, and other elites, and defeated the amnesty bill in 2006, they wrote their own death warrant, as far as the RNC was concerned. (Better to deal with Democrats in control, who support amnesty.) Now Talk Radio has written its own death warrant, in their eyes. So, we shall see...
“something in the water?”
Worse than that, Cindy. I’m with Mike Savage. He said they’re all on drugs. I’ts the only explanation that makes sense.
I’m betting Trenty Latte is getting plenty of invitations from various talk radio hosts today. He can ‘splain what he means by that. And maybe answer a few questions about that there 1000-page bill. And what he thinks freedom of speech means.
