I still can’t believe how many intelligent people cannot comprehend the scope of the immigration issue. If employers are provided with an adequate system to screen employees including biometric ID cards and then (and only then) illegal employers are cracked down on hard, all the walls, money and people necessary to secure the border will be GREATLY REDUCED. If they can’t get employed, then won’t come. Guest worker program - fine - but again only through embassies and with biometric ID.

In terms of citizenship - I would much rather accept larger numbers of hard working predominantly Catholic, hardworking people than wind up with the immigration issues of the UK and France!! No free pass, but a fair orderly process. That being the case, I think the political model could become much more like the Cuban population is Florida - predominantly republican. If all they know and all they hear is that democrats try to protect and safeguard them and republicans oppose them, then what do you think the initial tendency will be? Do any of you know very many 2nd or 3rd generation Mexican families that are not successful? Once successful, you really think they will be democrats? Did they just elect Calderon or Obrador?

Enough unthinking gut reactions people - try using a little reasoning. I’m as conservative as they get, but I also own a business with 65 employees and the system, as it is now, is not at all fair to the small business who does follow the letter of the law. Out of every 100 applications we get, only 2 or 3 are legal - we need to spend money and time to find this out. We need to compete with companies who do utilize illegal help - again not fair at all. Yet we are targeted by racist people who assume that since we have over half of our employees being Hispanic, that we hire illegals. This is simply racist hate-mongering as every single employee we hire is carefully screened and is either a US citizen or is here with a work visa.

Many people who haven’t dealt with this type of bigotry cannot comprehend it, but it exists and is certainly not representative of this great country of ours. We have and always will welcome immigrants. We have hundreds of thousands of open jobs just in the Southwest. We can’t keep raising wages to attract employees when the system allows others to utilize illegal help - the screening/ID issue is the single biggest issue for all immigration/border issues. If people can be positively ID’ed and screened then the illegal employers can be hit and hit hard. If there aren’t jobs for undocumented people - there won’t be undocumented people - simple supply and demand!!

Too many of you are way to narrow-minded in your perception, consider the overall issue here.

Sorry, but there is a glaring hole on your theory. The political model of Florida and it’s Cuban refugees is a hell of a lot different from what is coming in today. These Cubans were fleeing socialism! The Mexicans and assorted other south of the border hispanics are simply fleeing the economic consequences of a socialist world that they totally support and created. The Cubans wanted freedom and capitalism, the Mexicans just want better social services in an economy they haven’t destroyed -——yet.

Do you ever think about your COUNTRY, or is it just me me me, money money money all your life?

Millions of us have raised our right hand, and sworn our sacred honor to uphold and defend the Constitution. So did the President and the Senators.....but now they seem to have sold their souls to some other cause. Some have sold out to corporate contributers, some have sold out for the hope of millions of govt program dependent voters down the road.

Either way, it's a form of treason, whether the motive is greed or power lust.

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

Your competitors who hire illegals are scum.

I still wonder, if they are such hard-workers then how come their country is a dump?

If they are Catholic, then why do they not abide the admonition to “render unto Ceasar” and obey the law in regards to entering the United States?

it's your perception that is narrow. You sound like you work for the White House. Give me a break. Many of us are steeped in history and have covered this issue. You are absolutely mistaken if you think the 2nd/3rd generation of the current illegals will vote Rep. They will not. I can't recall off hand, but I believe Sowell addressed this elitist absurdity. Our Republic is about to be destroyed by willful acts of our vile leaders. Come back in 40 years and see how your ridiculous dream world fantasy compares to reality.

Over half your employees are Hispanic, yet its everyone else that is racist?

I didn’t think Hispanics represented half the American population, so why the unbalanced racial makeup of your workforce?
