No joke.
They could pay them half the pay of a citizen cop and threaten to deport them if they were any trouble.
In reality you'd get pulled over by someone that could care less about citizenship rights, demanding you obey them at the point of a gun.
But allowing 20 different languages spoken in the fox hole is OK
Makes sense to me.(sarc)
Why do the words “Roman Empire” come readily to mind?
No!
Just say NO to Amnesty!! Keep calling!! Its NOT OVER!!

In fact, I’d give any of those illegals that get an Honorable Discharge an instant citizenship ceremony.
When I grew up, we had a draft and I always thought it a fair and equitable repayment for the privilege of American citizenship. (even after I was drafted and went to war a couple of times). It’s certainly an idea worth considering for eligible illegals.
We should do this for everyone...I can see the recruiting poster now...
“Do YOU have what it takes to be a citizen?”
I think it’s a great idea. I did my 20+ years.
Your turn.
I believe because this was written about in Edward Gibbons "The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire."
It hasn’t been a requirement to be a citizen for a long time to join the military but the enlistee must be in the country legally at the time of enlistment.
Just think of the savings, though. MS-13 gang members would not have to go through training. How can you train some of the worlds most dedicated and proficient killers to do better than they already are? I mean, these guys make SEALS look like alter boys.
That was the model for the French Foreign Legion.
We see how that turned out.
(At least they made them learn French).
This is unacceptable. Back in the 70s we had a kid from Mexico in the barracks with us we ended up turning him into OSI because he wouldnt shut up about the Mexican-American war and how poor Mexico got the short end of the stick. They separated him and sent him packing back home. The last thing I want in my Air Force (after 25 years in I guess I can say that) is somebody I cant trust.
There is a term for anyone from another country that completes Marine Corps Boot Camp.
It is quite simply...........MARINE!!!!
PS no phone on Parris Island is ever answered press 1 for English.
From United States Army to Bush Imperial Army ...
Sounds more like "Bush political appointee wants Army to enlist illegals".
This has always been a terrible idea to me. First of all, we aren’t just talking about illegal Mexicans. There are many illegal Middle-Easterners in the US. Are we assured that non-citizens are not given sensitive jobs? I doubt it. Only a year after my nephew joined up he was involved in some secret “I can tell you what I do, but I’ll have to kill you afterwards” project. Are there guarantees that non-citizens will not be assigned to these duties?
Second, is there a cap on how many can join up? We don’t just send them all off to Iraq. We have to support them and their dependents while they are in the military. I know that our soldiers don’t live in the lap of luxury, but still there is a large cost involved in supporting them. Compare the size of the normal American soldier’s family with the size of the normal Mexican family. Coming to a PX near you soon - Spanish language signs.
Third, just what if we have some disagreement with the Mexican government that leads to war. How secure will you feel knowing that a large part of our armed servicemen are Mexican nationals?
“Anyone who is willing to put his neck on the line for this Country should be allowed to, and be put on the fast-track to citizenship.”
You might want to watch the History channel for a show about the fall of the Roman Empire - seems to me that mercenaries trained to fight for the Romans weren’t shy about using their new skills on the Romans - even though the Romans gave them “fast-track” citizenship and big plots of land to live on. Deja vu, anyone?
I have no problem with this as long they are fit to serve, aren’t criminals in their country of origin, and can speak English. If they will fight and risk their lives for our country, I’d say that’s earning citizenship in a great and honorable way.
What does this kid do about his divided allegiance?
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...
There can be NO divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but ONE flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.” Theodore Roosevelt 1907
Why not? It's the next logical step in the life of an Empire. The Romans did it, the Brits did it, following in their footsteps (and eventual demise) we'll do it. Fewer and fewer of the citizenry will become involved until we reach the point that most overseas troops are non citizens. It's historical
