Locals to welcome home 1345th tranportation unit
From a press release
The Sunday Sun
Troops from Midwest Citys Army National Guards 1345th Transportation Unit are expected to arrive in Oklahoma June 15.
A large homecoming is planned for the communitys heroes. The city of Midwest City, city of Del City, local chambers of commerce and Mid-Del Schools are working together to honor the troops.
The troops will be met and escorted to their homecoming ceremony that will take place at Del City High School. The six buses will be escorted by various agencies as well as the Patriot Guards and Red Knights. When the buses reach I-40 and Air Depot Boulevard, the community has a parade planned that will lead the soldiers to their ceremony in Del City.
Citizens and supporters are encouraged to line the streets and bring their American flags to the parade route that begins at I-40 and Air Depot. It will proceed north to S.E. 15th Street and then will head west to Sunnylane. As the soldiers buses proceed to the intersection of S.E. 15th Street and Sooner Road, fire trucks will be crossed and spraying water as the buses pass through the intersection. The parade will lead the troops to Del City High Schools field house which is located at 1900 S. Sunnylane (south of S.E. 15th Street).
Once at the field house, the homecoming ceremony will be open only to the troops family members. Field house parking will be reserved for the families of the soldiers. The military men and women will be welcomed home by family and friends during a ceremony that is expected to begin approximately at 7 p.m.
The Army National Guards 1345th Transportation Units Armory is located at the intersection of S. Air Depot and N.E. 23rd Street in Midwest City. We are encouraging media coverage of this event. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce at 733-3801 or the Del City Chamber of Commerce at 677-1910.
Thanks! I’ll be there!
