Originally it was “duck tape,” but it became “duct tape” later on... funny thing is, it doesn’t fix ducts, oddly enough.

Either one would probably be correct.

See post 140. “duck” is one brand of “duct” ... it’s original purpose is sealing insulation to HVAC ductwork.

We need the spanish straight through number... only if it’s not noted as a plus for amnesty and they listen to the opinion.

Actually wasn’t its original purpose used to seal insulation batts around galvanized or steel HVAC ducting?

I knew that. I used to work for an HVAC contractor. See, I always thought it was “duct” because that’s what it was designed for, but I’ve had several people tell me it’s “duck”. Must all be liberals.

“duct” is the proprietary brand

“duck” is the generic brand

At least he stated up front that he was from the White House, and didn’t try to pose as an “ordinary” FReeper.

Yes, and it wasn't very good at it. From Wikipedia:

After the war, the housing industry boomed and people started using duct tape for many other purposes. The name "duct tape" came from its use on heating and air conditioning ducts, a purpose for which it, ironically, has been deemed ineffective.
