And....??? My H was a single parent with a 10 month old (my stepdaughter) and a fiancee’ (me). He *married* her mother and tried very hard to make things work but she left him before their daughter was even born. We met shortly after and got married a year later, still married 23 years later. Great parent to his daughter and our 2 sons ages 20 & 15. If this story had been a dad traveling with a 19 month old, would everyone have been clapping and saying what a good dad he was, spending time with his child, taking him on vacation and all...?

Also, don’t assume. There are a LOT of single mothers among the 9/11 widows. I have a friend who is now a single parent because her husband recently died. I have 2 friends whose husbands simply walked out on them and their kids, now they’re single parents.
