"We do not seek to wrongly penalize honest employers who unknowingly hire illegal immigrants, therefore we reserve the right to reduce or mitigate their penalties if the employer can show good faith compliance in following the law."

The definition of "honest" is? ...and who is the "we" that reserves "rights?" When did the American people lose their right for their elected officials to do the will of the people and uphold existing law? The arrogance of the "we (ruling elites)" reserving rights for themselves in human trafficking (smuggling of humans -- slavery) is getting harder to swallow.

Blah blah blah blah....

And what makes you think we believe you're going to follow through on anything more than you have in the past? ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS ALREADY ON THE BOOKS, NOT MAKE NEW LAWS THAT YOU'LL IGNORE ANYWAY

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us....

I'm no fan of this bill, since I read an editorial in the WSJ by I forget who but it was credible.

Nonetheless, categorizing all Mexican immigrants with disdain effectively pushes them into the waithing arms of hillary clinton.

you'd better pray she drops the ball.

you heard it here first.

There was a boy from San Antonio that joined our military and was killed in Irag. He joined to honorably be granted citizenship. What a slap in his family’s face that citizenship will be granted to millions who have made no sacrifice and broken our laws. Shame on Bush.

“We do not seek to wrongly penalize honest employers who unknowingly hire illegal immigrants, therefore we reserve the right to reduce or mitigate their penalties if the employer can show good faith compliance in following the law.”

Does “good faith compliance” = donate to the re-election campaigns of the GOP?

Mr. Thompson, from where I sit, that is EXACTLY what “good faith compliance” looks like. You are selling out this country’s security for corporate interests.

I have defended President George Bush for 6 years. Well, NO MORE!!!!! Fulfill your oath of office and SECURE THE BORDERS!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW.

No bills, no deals. DO YOUR JOB AND SECURE THE BORDERS NOW!!!!!!!

[“Operation Rollback,” assessed $15,000,000 in civil fines to employers, an amount greater than the sum of administrative fines collected in the previous eight years ]

Dear Nicholas Thompson, Can you not see the irony in that statement??? What the Hell were you guys doing for those eight years? If you’d been enforcing the law during that time, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

I drive through all parts of Las Vegas as part of my business, and I can tell you vast areas of this city are permanently lost - a vast Mexican Barrio filled with llanterias. Jorge Bush would no doubt call me racist, but I speak fluent Spanish and even helped start an Hispanic media concern hear so that doesn’t wash. Even a close Hispanic friend of asks me, why must they be the one who learns Spanish?

Sorry, but this bill needs to die from a thousand slashes of outraged people.

I was watching UNITED 93 last night, and I have not stopped crying and yelling in rage at my TV.

How dare these congress people allow our immigration to run amok .. how dare they scoff at us and tell us to shut up .. when they have already forgotten the people WHO DIED TO SAVE YOUR SORRY REAR ENDS.

They don’t deserve OUR VOTES or OUR MONEY .. and until they put America first and not the Mexican govt .. they will get neither from me. And .. I’m not alone in this sentiment.

Nicholas Thompson’s original post was so tone deaf in itself that it is astonishing. ‘Breathtaking’ is the only word that fits such openly displayed arrogance. What an intriguing way for the White House to engage the base. Post info that has already been well-fisked - months, and even years ago - by the conservative base and add the White House moniker to it. ‘Nuff said, eh? After all... The White House is the leader of the free world. You’ve got The Power. Those Great unwashed Masses don’t know what’s good for ‘em! They’re ignorant! They don’t know what it’s all about!! The sad thing is that your esteemed opponents on the Hill are even more arrogant. You’ve all been feeding at the public trough for so long that you think and believe that it’s your God-given right and deserved inheritance. Your actions speak louder than words. Even so, your own words reveal your hearts for all to see. The rest of us can eat cake and let our babies go naked, can’t we?

This next election cycle is a toss-up, folks.

The Republican base has been betrayed by their leadership and the Democrat base has been betrayed by theirs, especially in regards to illegal immigration.

Most politicians and powermongers today have no idea of the power that was given to the people through the advent of the internet. It is much too late to try to control it. The genie’s out of the bottle and the people will become ever more difficult to lead by the nose. We’re much more intelligent than they ever thought we were. From here on out, we’ll be much better informed and educated...which means...we’ll be prepared. Because of their arrogance, they won’t be.

203 million Americans are now online. Nearly half of us get all of our news and info from the internet. Over one billion people are online around the world, with another one to two billion people who will join us before 2015. The internet has become the world’s greatest research library, all of it available in mere seconds...and at our fingertips. As soon as anyone speaks, anyone else can check their veracity...in a matter of seconds. Credibility is the new currency. All corruption and arrogance will fail.

So. Mr. President. The White House. Those of you on the public payroll on The Hill and in other public office around the nation and around the world? Speak, if you will. If you dare. Your words better be true. You should back those words with corresponding deeds. We, The People, will remember. We, The People, will hold you accountable.

If our borders were secure in the first place, employers would not have to be burdened with verifying whether their hires are legal or not.

As a former recruiter the 1986 law was a total joke with regard to completing the government's form requirements. No one from the government ever showed up to review these forms.

I did believe them in 1986, but I do not believe them now. This is amnesty and no secure borders.
