The FReeper Canteen Crew sadly announces the passing of Mr. Tonkin. (68-69TonkinGulfYachtClub).
If you would like to leave a message for his family, please direct them to amom.
Also, we ask that you send prayers to amom, his son Matthew, family, and friends.
We love you, Mr. Tonkin. Say 'hello' to Texas Cowboy for all of us.
You're missed and will never be forgotten.
We hope to make this an online memorial book for his family.
Details will be provided later regarding funeral services.
We are losing too many good freepers! Prayers for the whole family, may God help with the healing.
May the soul of our dearly departed friend rest in peace, and may the Lord of all grant comfort to his family and friends.
Farewell, Tonk!
RIP FRiend.
God speed Tonk. May God bless and comfort his family and loved ones.
Condolences to amom, Matthew, family and friends.
Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet.
Let it not be a death but completeness.
Let love melt into memory and pain into songs.
Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest.
Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night.
Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence.
I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way.

Never met him. But he was a Friend of mine. Heaven is a better place now.
He has been missed here at FR in recent time. He was one of the first to welcome me when I joined. May God rest his soul.
CROSSING THE BAR
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me,
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho out our bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
Rest in Peace, Dear Patriot.
Tonk and i never met- not person to person- but he enriched my life just by knowing him.
Brian, not knowing me from Adam’s housecat, came to my aid at the request of another pro 2A Freeper to help with a website.
While we completely abused the toll free number at my employer, I got to know an Angel with a vengeance.
While he was always the most tempered soul i ever had the pleasure of talking to- when it came to Our Country, Military,
and respect of the Common Good, this country never had a more capable and sincere warrior.
Rest Easy and God Bless,
You will not be forgotten.

May God Bless you Tonk and comfort your family members that are left here on Earth. We shall all be together someday.
Oh man. Tonk was certainly a FReeper treasure. God bless you sir. This is going to take a while to sink in.
He was a gentleman through and through.
May he rest in peace.
Salute!
Tonk you will be missed never forgotten
See you on the other side, FRiend. Save me a spot.
So long, Tonk. Thanks for being you.

One of the first screen names I ever saw, when I stumbled into the Freeper Canteen four years past.
Brian Marotta was one of the most steadfast voices in support of my soldiers and my mission, and me, for all that time.
His greatness of heart helped found the FReeper Canteen, which has been a place of comfort and support for countless nameless soldiers, and especially those under my charge, and lastly, myself.
I shall recall his strength of purpose; his humor and his sincerity; his faithfulness in the support of the friend, and the dogged pursuit of the foe.
I wish to paraphrase a passage from my favorite author:
“If more of us valued your ways, it would be a merrier world. But sad or merry, you must leave it now. Farewell.”
Thank you, Brian. Until our next posting.
God bless this fine man.
