These are the Rep senators who voted for the even worse 2006 bill. They will go through the charade of vetting the Rep amendments and then vote for cloture and then the bill.
Robert Bennett, Sam Brownback, Norm Coleman, Susan Collins, Larry Craig, Pete Domenici, Lindsey Graham, Judd Gregg, Chuck Hagel, Richard Lugar, Mel Martinez, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Gordon Smith, Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, Ted Stevens, George Voinovich, and John Warner.
Add to these Kyl, Isakson, Chambliss, and Lott who voted against the 2006 bill and you have the cabal that will make it a Rep majority in the Senate voting for the bill.

I think that’s a great idea. Let’s ask them to just do it.

Write down a point or two and be sure you make it. That is great advice, I don't know why I didn't think of it!
It is always better to do something rather than nothing!
AMEN! I'm sorry if I sound like a whiney Democrat, but never in my life have I felt as betrayed by my party as I have these last three weeks. But if we're gonna go down, I'm gonna go down swinging!

Certainly, we could round em up and ship em back, but would we really want to do that, knowing it would make us look like some of recent historys most notable villians? Perhaps, a plan for citizenship would be better. Three months to apply and two years to complete. If done, all fines and fees to be forgiven. If not done or not completed, then... adios! And thats just one idea; maybe you have others.
The "progressive" France is set on returning illegal entrants to their home countries. And exactly who are you comparing "round 'em up" policies to? NAZIs? I hope not. I really do. The "you are a NAZI [for disagreeing]" is tiresome and shows no ability to argue constructively. So I hope that is not what you mean. And let's also place blame squarely where it belongs: a corrupt Mexican government that has cheated its people for over a century. And let's also note the "poor working stiffs" you mention broke the law too. Let's do that before implying any deportations are -- as I hope you are not implying -- NAZI like.

When the word gets out that we are going to start to seriously ENFORCE the EXISTING LAWS on the books, the situation will greatly improve.
What no one is talking about on this forum, are the horrible living conditions these illegals are creating here, both for themselves and for their neighbors.
You've got 20 to 30 Illegals living in one house, sleeping in shifts. Their toilet facilities are limited, so they urinate outside. Basically, they trash where they live.
Unscrupulous slum lords are looking to make a fast buck, while the Illegals only need a mattress to sleep on. Doesn't matter how nasty it is.
It's disgusting, and what's worse is I fear it will eventually happen in my own quiet neighborhood.

Let me make sure I understand you here. You think it is a good idea to put people who broke our laws to get into our country on the fast track to citizenship while allowing all the people who followed the rules to enter this country legally should wait for years. That so we can be seen as 'compassionate'?
Is that your position? If so, I strongly disagree. Those who crossed the border illegally should NOT be rewarded with citizenship. I do not think we need to deport them all but they should only be offered citizenship IF they return to their countries and apply for legal immigration like any other applicant.

Maybe the title should be GOP Senate Leaders McConnell & Lott on verge of LUNACY. The way McConnell and Lott kissed up to El Jeje made me sick.
To: ruination
I thought Lott got pissed, went back to Mississippi, and turned into a pillar of salt.

There really is no more I can do to sway my amigo Senator Lugar.
After he voted for cloture the last time around, I demanded his resignation.
It has not yet been received. *sigh*

I just saw Jeff Sessions and Cornyn of TX say Bush has NOT changed their minds, and from the sounds of it, they don't know anyone who changed after Bush's visit. Of course, he may be making personal calls this week. Only time will tell.

Here are most of the Republicans especially worth calling in the Senate. Call them no matter what state you’re from — their votes affect ALL of us. Point out that you’ve been a loyal Republican. Point that amendments aren’t enough. They must KILL the bill.
