RE: But I think the shouts of ‘Amnesty!’ are drowning out what should be more important outcries. Namely the fact that the bill would actually render citizenship something of a detriment rather than a privilege..... and

If this bill becomes law, the average American will soon find himself surrounded by an ocean of non-citizens who cost more than they contribute, who bear no allegiance to our republic, and who will actually be afforded more rights, in relation to their responsibilities, than the rest of us....

For some time I have been pondering whether this legislation, once enacted and signed into law, could be vulnerable to a Fourteenth Amendment - "Equal Protection" challenge. Any lawyers out there have a take on this?

“Fourteenth Amendment - “Equal Protection” challenge.”

A sort of corollary question is, if Equal Protection doesn’t apply, what stops citizens from using illegals as proxy shields?

If your IRS bill is to big, claim the income was to your gardener Jose and he now has immunity. Foist a workplace violation on an illegal, have him apply for a zvisa, and voila, problem gone.
