Tony Snow is about to appear live on FOX & Friends on FOX News. The subject is Bush's push for immigration "reform".
Thanks for the nice comment above.
I’m sorry, my point wasn’t to chastise you for that, but to note that referenced entries are better POSTED than put in comments — and then you can LINK to the post in your comments.
As it does on the President and the bill’s proponents.
At what point did the president decide to ignore what the people who supported him are telling him?
Why did he throw his supporters under the bus?
Not only do they get to pay on the installment plan, but since the amendment to fix it failed, those who have the visa will qualify for the earned income tax credit, which means the government will be paying THEM more money in “tax credits” than they will have to pay in fines.
As I think Sessions said, pay $2000, get $10,000, not a bad deal — for the LAWBREAKERS.
Why go to the Government? Why go to the Government indeed. What is the purpose of a federal government if not to enforce federal laws? Congress passed a law requiring 800 some odd miles of fence be built. Now it's up to the Executive branch to execute that law. But noooo, the Executive wants to open the border even more, ignoring the law of the land.
What flooding? I don't think that there are flooding problems along the border. Last I heard nobody has proposed building the wall underground. Even at a 16 billion cost, that would be a bargain compared to the cost of illegal immigration.
And that was over a DECADE ago, the 104th Congress.
Federal Benefit Integrity Act (Introduced in House by Duncan Hunter)
We already HAVE laws that take care of illegals. The problem is that the executive branch isn't enforcing them.
Precisely.
As one who walked from marriage to residency to citizenship with my immigrant wife, and as one who knows well in excess of one hundred present and prospective immgrants, I do agree that George Bush and his quisling supporters in Congress have an extremly duplicitous, deceptive, and arrogant approach toward the American people and the passage of their monstrosity of a "reform" bill.
The consequences and issues that they are trying desperately to hide show complete and total contempt for their former supporters.
That's exactly what Duncan Hunter proposed during one of the debates; hire private contractors to build multiple pieces of the fence at once, so that construction would be sped up immensely.
Has to be done in by 24 hrs I think.
FReeper kayak who passed away recently used to have a quote up from Reagan about how upset his supporters were in California when he was Governor about the compromises he had made.
There’s no question that some compromises shouldn’t be made, but it doesn’t mean that none should either.
Are those would-be immigrants -- who respect our laws and have applied to enter the U.S. through proper legal channels, but are still languishing in other countries -- going to get legal status here sooner than the illegals? Are they going to be reimbursed for the difference in income they'd have had if they came illegally instead?
Amnesty would be merely a matter of excusing the criminals from punishment, but this bill goes far beyond that to actually reward them for their criminal behavior, at the expense of both law-abiding Americans and law-abiding people who want to become Americans.
Links to what?
The salient materials are S. 1138 and S.AMDT.1150, and in particular (but not entirely) Title VI in both documents.
Go get them and read them.
Go to the Heritage Foundation, select Immigration, and read their last two or three dispatches on the topic.
Go to Jeff Sessions' web site, select Immigration, and read the "20 loopholes document.
I'm not going to do research for you, we've been discussing these in detail for two weeks.
It reflects badly on you to roll into this thread (or any other immgration thread) and push your RNC/White House/MSM propaganda. It makes one look foolish and gullible.
Read the above source documents, come back when you've properly informaed yourself.
Please don't return with more of that pathetically misinformed MSM propaganda.
Hey, I’m feeling generous. Give them 90 days. Then, give the 1st million amnesty, and hold a drawing among all the rest for another million in amnesty, and then pay anybody else who signed up $5000 and send them home.
If you catch anybody after 90 days, fine them $5000 and send them home.
For each month after, increase the fine by $1000.
Further, every employer reports ALL their illegals. The first 500,000 unique names GET AMNESTY, and for 90 days, the employers get full amnesty for hiring and paying ANY illegal that they report. After 90 days, we fine the employers plus make them pay back social security AND taxes for the employees.
I don’t actually like this plan much, but if you want to do what you said, I think this is a better way to do so.
Tony goes to Fox & Friends to speak to people, who aren’t very informed on the bill. Why doesn’t Tony go on the Mark Levin Show, speak to a lawyer, who read the bill and thoroughly understands what is in the bill?
Like his compromise on the abortion bill, which he was told would be great, but he deeply regretted later when he saw how bad it really was.
Tony.
I hope you stay well pardner but your views on immigration have become irrelevant.
As have your boss’s.
Hopefully.
Compromise of any size on the illegals will doom us.
This is not just some policy or appropriations measure.
This is it.
We become a majority Mexican illegals founded nation in the next 50 years or not.
It’s pretty simple.
You have to choose.
Stay chummy in your mind with Bush and Toney or save the country. Let them in and America will not stay the same. Trust me. I spent two decades laregly in Central and South America.
It’s your call.
..she was a true & dear Christian lady and patriot.
Leave her name out of this...!!
If there’s a trust problem, it’s a two way trust problem at this point.
sl..I totally agree with your first point but you second point about trust being a two way problem, I don't understand.
Conservatives have lost faith in W because he hasn't lived up to their ideas of conservatism, i.e. he hasn't done all the things they voted for him to do. And lately, he seems to have gone further and further to the dark side to where even people like myself, former Bushbots, have lost faith in his judgment (not his intentions).
Now, on the other side, conservatives that elected W haven't changed at all. They are still the same group with the same ideas and the same expectations. So, W can trust us to be exactly as we have always been and understand that we want what we have always wanted, no more and certainly no less!.
