TB symptom?

as a medic in oilfields during the late 70’s/early 80’s in SE Asia, Africa, and the Gulf I had a number of cases (locals) who had a recent history of no apparent illness who were able to perform their duties in excellent fashion suddenly come to me coughing moderate to significant amounts of whole blood.....sudden onset in every case. Also in every case, the report after sending them ashore or to a hospital was advanced TB. I had nothing whatever to do with their “physicals” prior to hiring, except to know that it was alleged that they were screened for TB exposure using the tine test method, and none were hired who indicated exposure......so it was said, anyway.

How in the hell can someone like this enter an airplane?
Homeland security is busy looking for guns, bombs and knives which is good. However, nobody is considering looking at the passenger for the germ bomb.

Precisely why I don’t eat airline food.
__________

In the last 2 weeks I’ve eaten the airline food of Cathay Pacific, VietNam Air, and Singapore Air. All of it surprisingly good.

No one allowed out of plane.

You know you've had a bad flight when after landing, they keep the aircraft locked and sealed until the boys in the moon suits show up.

Wait, no one had been quarantined in decades and now it is commonplace. What caused the log jam?

Actually Lung fluke. Paragonimus westermanii or lung fluke is the most common cause of coughing up blood in the world. However, if this woman hasn't been a farm worker in China or SE Asia, it's pretty remote. The second most common cause of hemoptysis (coughing up blood) is chronic bronchitis, and the third is lung cancer.

Infectious causes of hemoptysis include pneumonia due to a variety of organisms, TB or fungus. Then any one of a number of hemorrhagic fevers like Ebola, Yellow Fever and the like.

Without more info, I reserve judgement.

Have you ever heard of quarantine? Or HazMat zones?

You don’t allow anyone (besides the obvious emergency personnel) in or out.

If it’s a very bad thing, those other people could spread the joy all over. They have to be contained.
