Crazy stuff for GA not to make the new law retroactive.

I am just thankful I wasn’t faced with laws like this when I was 17. Wonder if the attorney general or DA ever did anything like this at that age?

It wasn’t an issue for me when I was 17. I definitely was not a party kid. Much more on the geeky side.

Still, I think when you’re dealing with teens, you do have to have some flexibility. In some cases, like with gang violence and murder and forcible rape and armed robbery and that kind of thing, teens deserve adult sentences and adult prisons.

But sometimes, with the best of intentions, you can take an errant trouble-maker (someone who’s not really bad) and turn him into a hardened criminal just by being too harsh.

I’m sure that’s why the state of Georgia, in a belated act of wisdom, changed this law.
