May I ask that if this case had been the other way around...the girl 17 and the guy 15, would she have gotten 10 years in prison??????

as I recall the original story, this girl also was thought to be a "slow" but that's just what I remember.....
but no matter, some freepers still like to see 15 yros get it from the big time football player.....

I live in Georgia. I don’t know about the 17 year old girl, but the 15 year old girl is white.

Another activist judge. If the law is wrong, then the legislature needs to change it, not the whim of an activist judge. Im sick of these types overeaching. The family should have brought their plea before the state legislature and not a willing judge. This will only encourage the liberals to get other convictions overturned - just watch. The legislature did change it, most representatives fully expecting that it would give this kid a misdemeanor and release with time served. The jury in the original trial even said they would not have convicted him if they had been told that he could get a felony ten year sentence.
The new law, creating the Romeo and Juliet clause converting the act to a misdemeanor, was not made retroactive. Judge Wilson saw the spirit of the new change and made this ruling.
Now, our Attorney General, Thurbert Baker, does not want to let the kid go because a new precedent would force him to review a hundred other cases that could potentially fall into this age group, causing his office a tremendous additional workload.

I voted for Thurbert Baker both times. He has been a fine AG for Georgia.
I do think that if there are other inmates in prison for statutory sex acts within around a year or two of the victim in age the cases should be reviewed for potential reduction in sentence in accordance with the current Romeo and Juliet law.
If there are no extenuating circumstances, such as use of force or other related crime, a high school student does not need a felony conviction to haunt him through the rest of his life.

Well I've just provided you with 2 published articles saying that both girls were black. If you cannot provide published articles by reputable sources I think I'll go with what I have. I personally feel that what these thugs did was reprehensible and criminal, whatever the race of the victims.

I had heard that the 15 yr old was "developmentally disabled" also. If you can find a link, pass it on. Some of those taking wilson's side believe that the oral sex was performed by his white girlfriend and that's why he was "railroaded".
I see this as 6 thugs abusing 2 females, one drugged/intoxicated/unconscious and the other under the age of consent.
This is not 2 young lovers being kept apart because of racism as the high dollar "free genarlow" campaign wants you to believe.

My niece goes school with the 15 year old. I guess that is not sufficient for you. Since race is rarely identified in the news anymore. I won’t bother looking for articles.

Well, I provided you with quotes and links to 2 published article of the DA stating that the victims were black. I think that trumps someone that I don't know, writing anonymously, saying that her niece yadda, yadda, yadda...If you can provide evidence that I am wrong, I will check it out.
Regardless of the race of the 15 yr old, she is a deeply troubled child who needed protection from predators that night.
If wilson were the fine upstanding young man that you portray, he would have made sure both of the victims were safe and protected, not abused and degraded and then tossed aside by a gang of thugs.
There were no real men there that night.
