No, Hillary, it takes a family.
The problem with the whole”village”concept among black people is that it should supplement the family,not replace it.
To me the whole village idea is not a bad one even though Hillary throws the word around while not having the faintest understanding about how it is lived.Its not a concept exclusive to blacks either.I grew up in a very tight knit neighborhood where all the families on the block watched out for each other and felt free to be a fill in parent when the real one was unavailable.
However,in the hood today,most blacks have very dysfunctional families and you can’t build a “village”where there is no family structure.The village ITSELF is then dysfunctional and ineffective.
Then there is the irony of the village concept being promoted by middle class and professional blacks who as a group are fairly stable.In the ghetto,however,the ethic is,”nigga,I want to get paid,fool”.
Hardly a good moral foundation to build the communal village upon.
