It’s a shame we didn’t take Iran down earlier, like say, three years ago, when this first came up. The longer we wait, the more arms they stockpile, and the more bloody our conflict will be. Where are you, Mr President?

You are correct.

We have waited far too long. Letting the Europeans waste time engaging in endless political prattle with the Iranians --- the same Europeans who were then openly mocked by the Iranians for their naivete --- was foolish on our part.

He is hiding under the skirts of his political advisors who tell him he can't take any more PR hits like Iraq and Immigration...so he is letting IRAN fester and boil out of basic political cowardice...and he was once brave, but he's been beaten.

Oh come on, this is nothing like the immediate importance of letting tens of millions of turd world lawbreakers become legal permanent residents on the path to citizenship.
