My Continental schedule shows that the airplane that day was a Boeing 737; not an Embraer.

What else is the writer confused about on this story????

Well, for one, all Continental Embraers (and I fly on one an average of once a week) use a CD for the safety announcements, all the Flight attendent does is mimic how to tighten their seat belt, put on the mask etc.

Only very, very rarely have I heard the pilot(s) make an announcement before pushing back and only then when it was either bad news (delays) or a maintenance problem that required us to get off the plane for a few minutes.

I average around 100k miles per year on Continental and have never had anything remotely like this happen. If something like this dod happen, I'd file a report with the airline and with the FAA (or NASA, I think that they handle that stuff now) as soon as I landed.
