Besides Doolittle, California Republicans with ethics problems are:
_Rep. Jerry Lewis (news, bio, voting record), now in his 15th term and chairman of the Appropriations Committee last year when federal prosecutors in Los Angeles began investigating his ties to a lobbyist with clients in his district.
_Rep. Gary Miller (news, bio, voting record), in his fifth term, who's drawn scrutiny over a tax deferral strategy he used in a profitable real estate sale to a Southern California town outside his district.
_Rep. Ken Calvert (news, bio, voting record), in his eighth term, who denies any conflict over pushing federal funding for a planned freeway interchange 16 miles from property he sold at a profit. The FBI pulled Calvert's financial disclosure forms a year ago, but he says there's no evidence he's under active investigation.
The four deny wrongdoing, and it's not clear that Miller, Calvert or Lewis are in immediate legal or political jeopardy. Not so with Doolittle, who barely won re-election last year in one of the most heavily Republican districts in California.
Many local officials still publicly back him, but some Republicans in Doolittle's district are starting to say they can't risk having him as their nominee.

These people all need to retire. They have spent so much time in DC politically secure, they have developed a sense of entitlement.
Not much news here...just innuendo. Blowback, designed to take the focus off William Jefferson.
Let’s not mention the cloud over Boxer and Feinstein.....
Nothing going on here...just move along. I’m so sick of this puke.
I don’t know any of the details, but I seriously doubt that they are more corrupt than all those California Democrats who are not being investigated or atttacked in the media.
Boxer, Feinstein AND Pelosi (son employed by Gupta)......
Well, Lewis is retiring. Doolittle should go, and Calvert has been dogged by problems for quite some time and he should go, too. We do have problem people on our side, and it makes it hard to aggressively go after the mountain of corrupt rodents when we don’t weed out our molehills. Of course, it is frustrating and hypocritical of the media to go after ours when there’s so many of theirs. But that’s what we’ve come to expect.
They’re all corrupt and a parliament of whores.
TERM LIMITS.
15th, 5th and 8th terms. It cries out for term limits.
I wish that we could just “clean house” and start again! I’m sick of the whole bunch. I don’t think that there is a one who has the best interest of his, or her, constituents at heart.
They all want to be King and Queen.
and no body too.
Exactly correct - - nothing but rehash. It's just the same old dying, scumbag, socialist "mainstream" newsrooms covering for their own Democrats. (yawn)
Yup.
I get annoyed with people who make excuses for corrupt pols who “aren’t as bad” as the other party.
Great standard.
How about Diane Feinstein’s problems? Oh, I forgot. She’s a Dim so its no problem. My bad.
“We do have problem people on our side, and it makes it hard to aggressively go after the mountain of corrupt rodents when we dont weed out our molehills.”
That is so true. If they refuse to go voluntarily, than the party should not back them and they should be ousted in the primaries.
There are too many self-serving Ron Paul types in the GOP.
I hate jerry lewis with a passion. It’s people like him that cost us our majority in 2006.
