I guess since it’s in the Salt Lake Tribune, probably coming from a Mormon, it’s okay to discuss the religion in a political context????/
************
“While the LDS Church does not accept the White Horse Prophecy as doctrine, several former leaders of the faith have spoken of the threat to the Constitution at various times, according to research by George Cobabe, who studied the prophecy’s origins for the Foundation for Apologetic Information & Research. The group’s mission is to defend the church and correct misunderstandings.
He says the concept of religious people saving the Constitution in the last days is a common theme for many faiths, but adds the White Horse Prophecy is bunk.
“I don’t think the White Horse Prophecy is fair to bring up at all,” he says. “It’s been rejected by every church leader that has talked about it. It has nothing to do with anything.”

Micael Moore et.al. have made hundreds of millions spouting conspiracy theories, and to detrimental effect. This will make the theories about the Bush’s involvement in Skull and Crossbones look like amateur hour. Is it fair to Romney? Maybe not, but this white horse will be beat to death.
Romney Opposes the Boy Scouts Ban on Homosexual Scoutmasters
Despite the over 2,500 pedophilia cases now on record involving homosexual scout leaders, Romney stated, I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation. In the same article, a BSA official criticized Romney for opposing Scout policy. Boston Globe, 10/27/1994
“Romney Opposes the Boy Scouts Ban on Homosexual Scoutmasters”
How much you wanna bet that Guliani, McCain, Thompson, and all the others will give the same response if asked that question.
Romney:
We are living in a PC world, and I am a PC girl..er..boy.
Times are changing. We have to pick our battles and get a candidate who can unite the party. I think Romney can do that, despite what he thinks about this issue. Ultimately, that issue will be decided in the courts.
I betcha Thompson wouldn’t . . . just because so far he’s seemed to avoid mine fields.
Yeah, he is a anti-gun putz, no matter what he says to convince the myopic gun-owning hunting types to vote for him.
(How much more could you care less?)
...
"Power will be given to the White Horse to rebuke the nations afar off, and you obey it, for the laws go forth from Zion," the prophecy says.
Reminds me of Washington's Prophecy. It's not an uncommon thread.
“I betcha Thompson wouldnt . . . just because so far hes seemed to avoid mine fields.”
I bet he would. To say anything else these days would put any person directly into the line of fire by all the liberal media. It would be political suicide, IMO.
...probably because he’s at home watching Wheel of Fortune.
I don't think this is a minor thing, and oops I didn't really mean it doesn't cut it with me. If the republicans run him, I'm not biting.
“Ah you found one of the prominent ones already.”
...one of the prominent *what*
Not that I believe that crap but in a way the prophecy is fulfilled. Without Utah’s electoral vote, Gore and Kerry would have been president. ;)
since Hunter at least has already said he supported the boy scouts, I will take you for as much as you have.
“Hunter at least has already said he supported the boy scouts”
He has not stated publicly that he does not support the political correctness being forced on the Boy Scouts organization though, right?
(don’t have much, BTW, grin)
You people really are the biggest wimps on the planet. Go back to France!
Favoring gays as Boy Scout leaders is an idiotic liberal position that common sense people of all political stripes find objectionable.
This issue is one of those issues which will cause people to refuse to vote. Even if it means someone like Hillary wins. People like me. I refused to vote for Dole and I won't vote for Rudy, McCain, or Romney either. Period.
I am answerable to God and the lesser of two evils is still evil. I am not going to be judged on whether or not the United States stands or falls. I will be judged on my obedience to the mandates of God, as revealed through the Bible. I can't make decisions based on what is less unpleasant or what is easiest.
There is no debate here, and I am not alone, which the Republican party refuses to learn from. I am not a member of a political party, and owe none of them my allegiance.
Mitt has the strongest executive experience and this is a time when we need an executive, not a legislator (McCain, Thompson, etc.).
They will not debate, they either shout you down or attempt to say that only a "racist", "idiot", or "sexist" would have a differing view from them.
I'm not a Romney supporter, nor am I am member of the LDS Church. But, it kills me that they seem to hate this guy simply for having a religion that differs from their's.
Loud APPLAUSE!!!!
