I don’t disagree about Hunter and his voting record but he was only one of a handful actually doing anything at all about it until Tancredo bought much needed national public attention to this issue. It is the public outrage however that is driving this not Hunters voting record.

As for Tancredo “honing his message”. As I said I agree he is not an eloquent speakers.I disagree it is “unhelpful” and I applaud him for approaching issues that most people are afraid of. The topics he delves into and brings out are things that up until now have never come close to being addressed. He at least get issues in the public dialogue. I am not as concerned as you about “image” As a matter of fact I think that is part of the problem because it is PC in nature. Too concerned about what the neighbors will think. That is largely how we ended up with this problem in the first place. People too afraid to address it. Don’t want to be label a “racist” etc. His comments about S FL are right on just like S Ca. They have become Hispanic enclaves and are being remade as little Mexicos and little Cubas. He is also right about slowing down or stopping immigration altogether for a time. We need to assimilate those already here. Yet some people want to continue with this balkinazation of our culture, our language and our way of life.

I’m not concerned about Image. I hate PC. One of the reasons I like Hunter best. It wasn’t PC for him to be the only one to call for Harry Reid to resign over his “lost war” statements, or to mock Pelosi’s ignorance about military affairs, or to take Murtha’s cut and run bill and force it to a floor vote, or to push the bill to pardon Ramos and Compean, or to fight McCain’s stoopid anti-torture bill, or to be the lone man preventing the 911 commissions recommendations from gutting military Intel, etc. Hunter is the big bull in the china shop of capital hill. The difference is that he is always dead nuts on without the Tancredo mis steps.

Instead of calling an american city a “third world country” (a city that has a HUGE conservative, legal cuban population), Hunter instead says things like: I know many americans from hispanic descent, and they do not want this amnesty.
