I guess they forgot the maxim that if you supp with the Devil, use a long spoon.
Fingers crossed.
The pro-criminal axis is trying to save the amnesty. We have to keep the pressure up. We can kill this today.
Deport the workers and their families will follow.
Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)
LonePalm, le Républicain du verre cassé (The Broken Glass Republican)
David Drier (sp) was on Hugh Hewitt yesterday saying that he felt the bill was on the verge of collapse. So mote it be.
Sounds like he knows something???
Republicans are saying the amendment is a deal killer. They are saying that if the Democrats don’t get rid of this amendment they will not vote for it.
Those who live in Democrat states should burn up the phones telling the Dem Senators to not mess with this amendment!
Even though he was then (and probably with years of Washingtonification, more now) far to the left of most of my views, I genuinely liked the guy.
I thought he sincerely tried to represent the people who elected him, even though he was sincerely wrong on more than a few issues. His intellect is well above average and he understands more about free market economics than your run-of-the-mill Lieberal.
As a former college professor (UND, economics), he understands that the Microsofts of coastal America would prefer to bring in lower-cost tech workers from overseas rather than hire even well-educated and well-prepared kids from flyover America. And for that I give him more credit than many of the so-called conservatives like Bush, McCain and Lindsey Graham.
BTW, our relationship was always cordial and he felt my articles on his campus visits were fair, even when I was critical.
Spirits among conservative critics of the immigration bill have brightened today following several Senate votes that indicate at least 40 senators could block the bill during a cloture vote tomorrow."Well-placed sources tell me that activists are focusing their attention on the following list of senators:"
Sam Brownback (R.-Kan.), -
Richard Burr (R.-N.C.),
Saxby Chambliss (R.-Ga.),
Larry Craig (R.-Idaho),
Pete Domenici (R.- N.M.),
Byron Dorgan (D.-N.D.),
John Ensign (R.-Nev.),
Mike Enzi (R.-Wyo.),
Judd Gregg (R.-N.H.),
Johnny Isakson (R.-Ga.),
Jon Kyl (R.-Ariz.),
Mary Landrieu (D.-La.),
Trent Lott (R.-Miss.),
Mitch McConnell (R.-Ky.),
Claire McCaskill (D.-Mo.),
Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.),
Mark Pryor (D.-Ark.),
Debbie Stabenow (D.-Mich.),
John Sununu (R.- N.H.),
Jon Tester (D.-Mont.),
George Voinovich (R.-Ohio),
Jim Webb (D.-Va.),
John Warner (R.-Va.).These individuals are apparently still non-committal about how they will vote on the final bill or could be swayed depending on votes either for or against amendments to the bill.
IMPORTANT — Call your senators and if they are on the wrong side give them the devil if they are on the right side say THANK YOU. The ones that are on the right side need to hear from us, tell them you are in their corner. They need to hear the positive feedback.
I notice that Drudge has added a question mark after the RIP.
Sadly, we haven’t seen “R - CA” in years.
Hey what is that mote it be bro.??
Way to go Dorgan! At least he gets an A+ in economics!
May save the republic.
For the love of God, just kill the damn bill!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! Good one.
Wonderful.
