They still have to dispense the Dorgan amendment, either by modifying it or killing it outright. They will debate supposedly 3 amendments from each side before the 5:00 pm? vote if they can or already have obtained unanimous consent to do so. As far as I know so far Sen. Sessions has objected to the UC request.

I just received the following from the immigration reform group I am a member of. They are up on the Hill now:

"It looks like we have reached a critical juncture re the hearings on S 1348. Majority Leader Reid is anxious to cut off debate on the bill ASAP. It looks like there will be a vote on 5 proposed amendments that have been presented by both sides. Following that vote it is likely to be another vote on cloture. Reid has threatened to pull the bill if closure fails again. This would be the best we could hope for.

So please call your two senators as many times as you can over the next hour and strongly urge them to vote against cloture. That's all you need to say. Please also call Senator McConnell of Kentucky and Senator Lott of Mississippi and ask them to do likewise.

If you do not already have their numbers, call the Senate switchboard: 202-224-3121

Please follow through on this, we are at a critical juncture. If the bill is dropped by the Senate our summer could be a pleasant one. Good luck"
