It’s one of the problems of living in the White House bubble. POTUS is surrounded by yes men and doesn’t have any contact with the ‘real world.’ It’s not unlike ‘41’ going to the supermarket and being shocked at the scanner.
He was also shocked last November because his team assured him (and us) that they would pull out the ‘06 election.
Unfortunately Members of Congress live in a bubble as well.
I’d like President Bush or my pathetic excuse(s)for Senator(s) to spend one day in the world of their average constituent. They would sooner have a photo op or make a headline spending a day living on welfare or with the homeless to experience their lifestyles. If they were to spend a day with a real average, native-born, hard-working constituent family, their staffs (not them) would carefuly chose to fit a demographic, based on a focus group.
GW is also a puppet.
You got a great perspective.
Have a look at Fred Thompson.
Fred goes to the People and not Congress.
George goes to Congress and not the People.
