Bush 'surprised' by conservative anger
The Washington Times ^ | June 06, 2007 | Jon Ward & Ralph Z. Hallow

Posted on 06/06/2007 6:38:28 PM PDT by de meanr

"He was surprised by the reaction," Mr. Snow said of Mr. Bush's speech in Glynco, Ga., last week. "The speech in Georgia was, 'We've got a serious problem and we need to fix it.' It was not in any way designed to be pointed at Republicans." But conservative opponents of a Senate immigration bill supported by Mr. Bush reacted furiously to the president's suggestion that they are resorting to scare tactics by using the word "amnesty" in referring to the measure that would allow millions of illegal aliens to remain in the United States.

“But I’m a “compassionate conservative.””

I’m not stop all social benefits, arrest anyone that hires one and sock the with the maximum penalty, build the wall, and make it so miserable for the illegals that they either starve to death or go back where they came from.

Compasonage conservative is Bush’s way of saying i’m a socialist.

1) Establish a national verification of citizenship or legal working status that a business (or landlord) can use to verify status.

And you think there would be truth in that, so a business that has been breaking the law is going to vouch for breaking the law, and I can give you a list of landlords that will sell the verifications like water, come one come all.

Tell me that none of this bilge you've written is serious.

Well, I am suprised that he is suprised.

I know he’s a busy guy, and he works really, really hard. But come on, if he is THAT out of touch then he is either an idiot or he thinks of himself as a King. I want neither as my President. So, just talk to the hand Georgie...I am done with you.

Maybe someone has something BIG on Bush and they are taking full advantage of it now.

I’ve been thinking the same thing lately...either GW Bush or someone in his family has a “history” that has to remain buried. So he sells out the country. Reminds me of Judas.

No one has yet explained why we should adopt almost a third of a foreign nation’s citizens, educate, medicate, pay their legal bills, offer translators, give tax refunds, pay them social security, and the list goes on. Next they’ll demand the vote. Where is the money for all this to come from? From our taxes and our social security. Not CONGRESS’S retirement funds for sure. That’s in an inviolate lock box somewhere. Guess they’ll just have to raise taxes on the American taxpayers. Get ready for a much lower standard of living. Like Hillary said, “We’re going to take things from you for the common good.”

The Prez only has Texas for an example of a so-called border state which is no example. It only has a couple of podunk towns on the border the rest is no-mans land. Mr. Prez, come spend a week in San Diego, population over 3 million sharing the border with Tijuana, pop. over 1 million. This is the largest and busiest border crossing in the world It is costing San Diego taxpayers mega millions a year supporting illegals.

I called Ms. Bean's office today and had her aide inform me that no immigration bill has been voted on in congress this session....this was after I vented about the "immigration reform" bill and all the problems w/ it.

I got the impression she was trying to make me look ignorant.....something that wise-ass Beanie would probably approve of.

First there was Bush calling the Minutemen patrolling the borders a bunch of “vigilantes”...

the base Grumbled, but kept it muffled to support the WOT

Then Bush railroaded the two Border Patrol agents into long prison terms for doing their job of protecting the border....

and the base Grumbled some more, but tried to keep a lid on to maintain support for the WOT...

Then Bush spouted the lines that ILLEGALS were just good people “doing work Americans REFUSED to do...”

and the outrage from the Base grew louder, as Bush appeared to be INSULTING loyal, legal Americans at the expense of ILLEGAL criminals....

And then it is Bush saying in speech after speech in support of this ABOMINABLE piece of legislation, that opponents are anti-Immigrant, that America is a land of Immigrants, bla bla bla....

when what we, the base, oppose is the ILLEGALITY, the CRIMINALITY, the BREAKING OF RULES AND LAW, not the immigration itself.

And Bush either knows this and doesnt give a rats too-too, or he doesnt and he is dumber than a spike.

I have been with this President and defended him for years, because of his stance on the WOT, despite CFR, despite kissing Teddy Kennedy’s arse, despite Harriet Miers, despite all the above abominations on Immigration...

BUT NOW I AM GONE. FINISHED with this President and his anti-American agenda. IF he cannot protect our borders, if he cannot REALIZE why loyal patriotic Americans are OUTRAGED OUT OF THEIR MINDS by this shamnesty bill, then he is not worth ANY support from his former Base.

Let them know loud and clear, that this is the BREAKING POINT for MILLIONS of patriotic, loyal AMERICANS.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, Mr. President!!!!!!!

An outright lie. Tony Snow should be ashamed of himself.

Mr. President, you clearly have more affinity with Ted Kennedy than you do conservatives. You have shown your contempt for us in no uncertain terms. We are racists. We are “afraid of diversity.” We don’t want to do what’s right for America.

I just wish you and your pal Teddy would ride off into the sunset together.

The Senate is up late tonight voting on amendments to this piece of crap bill. They should just put it out of its misery.

This doesn't surprise me. They are 'spinning' - not my job, man - since it hasn't hit the House yet.

My letter will probably be sent to the 'round file' and I will get some canned response. BUT, I need to do this. I am so pissed off at these arrogant 'representatives' of AMERICAN CITIZENS. Torches and pitchforks anyone?

>>Mr. Snow yesterday said the immigration dispute between the president and conservatives “does not mark a point of disjunction,”<<

Tony, have you no shame? Is there no spin so outrageous that you won’t get in front of a microphone and say it?

Your credibility is gone. Your shameless little stint as Chief White House Turd-Polisher has lowered your credibility to that of Baghdad Bob. I hope it was worth it to you.

We better do more than get outraged . This bill is going through as planned. They will sneak in in during July when half the country is on vacation , mark my words. I say we need a nation wide boycott and demonstration on a massive scale . It’s the only way //Well , what are we going to do folks, just sit here and take it ?
