Keep in mind, I've not given my personal opinion.
What is your definition of "Pro-Choice" ? "Pro-Life" ?
I realized it was your post, not his. My guess is he realized he had been caught in a lie, and your post was a convenient out for him.
With regards to your post, I understand your point about the federalist distinction, but I can honestly say I have never - ever - heard anyone honestly refer to someone who opposes Roe v. Wade on the grounds of federalism as "pro-choice". The only ones who do are people like our fellow poster, who try to cast aspersions and spew lies on candidates they personally don't support.
Personally, I don't care if he (or you) supports Thompson or not. I do have a problem with posters purposely lying about a candidate's positions (including the interntional omission of facts/data which they know will undercut their point) in an effort to support their own candidate. The RudyBots were infamous for this prior to the Purge - I don't know who the candidate of choice is for our fellow poster, but he is doing that candidate no favors with his fundamentally dishonest debating style.
As far as my stance, opposition to Roe v. Wade (which, coupled with Doe v. Bolton, makes abortion on demand at any point in a woman's pregnancy legal in all 50 states) constitutes a pro-life stance. Support is pro-choice, or, to my way of thinking, pro-abortion. Obviously the dead baby does not have a choice, or the pregnancy would end differently.
I hope that answers your question - take care.
Fred Thompson on Abortion
Voted YES on maintaining ban on Military Base Abortions. (Jun 2000)
Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions. (Oct 1999)
Voted YES on banning human cloning. (Feb 1998)

Since FRed has no vote on Roe v. Wade, votes like these are the best indicator we have to a politician’s position.
IMHO, FRed is pro-life.
