Here is my fear for Fred Thompson.

He is walking right up to the cliff with this hedging his decision thing.

He runs the risk of waiting too long to say "I'm in"

Right now, he's OK - but this is a risky strategy.

That said: http:www.imwithfred.com

Good luck to you Fred - load on RedBull - you're gonna need it.

Nahh - The current field is so far away from conservatives that many I know would take a one-legged organ grinder who has a better voting record over McCain, Rudy or Romney.

Fred gets more votes everytime these bozos have a debate and put more of their feet in their mouth.

Thanks calcowgirl.

I appreciate that.

FYI - I saw a great bumper sticker in San Diego this weekend:

Fence: If you build it - they WON'T come.

I don’t think he is doing the wrong thing by waiting. He is just going about it differently.

Personally, I applaud him. It’s about time we had someone with creativity and a brain running for office.

Actor/dilettante Fred needs to be a man, put on his floppy shoes, bozo nose, mouth stretcher and join the other men who have put it all on the line in the past two debates and faced with courage the kind of mindless ridicule that you personify.

Then maybe we'll se if he has what it takes to stand in the line of fire as president.

Wouldn’t be something it he could redefine the way you run for office in this country?

I hope he can succeed.

The new age of politics.

Fred has been smart thus far. If he were there last night, he’d have received the same treatment the other second-tier candidates received; minimal time.

The media only wants those who toe the “establishment” line to get heard. They will bury anyone with conservative credentials. Fred’s playing it coy sets him apart and allows him to get his message aired (as he did after the event on Fox).

He’ll announce when he sees it most advantageously. Sure, it can backfire, but so far, he’s garnered a lot of attention and support. Yes, I’ve signed up on ‘imwithfred.com’.

I hate to say it, but I don’t think Fred is pretty enough. It’s the TV age. I hope I’m wrong.

As he demonstrated convincingly as a senator, he's lazy and he hates contention.

That's the reasons for his "different" campaign.

We don't need a lazy, half-hearted, fight-shirking man in the White House when the Democrats control Congress.

We need a fighter, not an actor. (And don't invoke Reagan. He proved his mettle as a two-term governor of California)

Actually it sounds to me like Fred's taken a few chapters out of Sun Tzu :)

“...he’s lazy...”

I may be wrong, but I have vague recollections of similar statements about President Reagan - something about retiring early every night.
