Politicalmom had a good answer for this one, campaign donation reporting. See her post for a good explanation of it.

Exactly what it means. First things first. Focus on deportation and border security. DHS has increased the number of deportations significantly. I think that the border patrol agents should get a $1000 bonus for every 500 illegals they deport. I also believe that businesses should be given tax breaks for identifying and turning in illegals. If you create a culture that enforces the border then we can look at allowing more work Visas but the last thing we want is an endless flow depressing the job market at the lowest tiers of the economy as well as taxing our charitable services to the breaking point.

The comprehensive plan is just another crap bill. We have all the laws on the books now that we need to deal with sending illegals home and stopping them at the border. A new 400+ page piece of legislation will not change anything but create a new quick an easy way for millions to be legal without being a citizen meaning they will then take advantage of health and charitable services to an even greater degree than even now.

I don’t think there will be any surprises on where Thompson stands on illegal immigration. He has come out against the bill. Now let us hope that the Republicans who are supporting it can be swayed against it.

How can the illegals self-deport if we secure the border first?

Ah, how about walk back across the border at a checkpoint. We don't stop them from leaving.

Remember, it was the Soviet block that kept its subjects from leaving. Exactly the opposite situation from what we currently have.

That is really a stupid question. Nobody stops people from leaving the U.S.

Perhaps, but you miss the point. Both border enforcement and deportation (including measures to encourage self-deportation) must be implemented, hand-in-hand, or the illegal aliens in our country will inevitably be granted some kind of amnesty.

Makes you wonder how much "headway" is enough for Fred, and whether that includes an actual impenetrable, effective fence.

Sorry if I sound skeptical, but I do believe it is within reason to ask questions and scrutinize our candidates, before succumbing to leader who could be open to Bush amnesty. Saying it's "an impossible situation" to deal with the current illegal aliens residing in this country is a bad sign.

OK Uriah PLEASE show me where Fred said A, Enforce the Border NOW and EITHER B. Round them up and DEPORT thme OR take away the Social welfare benefits (Welfare, Work, Schools - well at least scholarships that should go to AMERICANS) so we can have deportation by attrition.

Sounds like Fred is a ONE WORLDER ooops New World Order which is responsible for the “AMERO” (Google it.)

What’s FRED position on ENGLISH ONLY... I know I’ll be told, “He’s for it”. But what has he done to bring it about? He was in the Senate.

Bush says he’ll “Think about it, maybe it’s time.” and that was that. In the meanwhile, I have two Spanish Speaking channels on my Cable that they claim the FCC under Colin Powell’s son ORDERED and I have to pay for it! What happended to Reagan’s, “USERS PAY” FOR IT APPROACH?”

Sam, he also went on to mention attrition. Besides securing the border, you also go after employers, and dry up the freebies, most would self deport.

I like the way he is running his possible campaign. It’s new and exciting and shows he is quite capable.

"Well, I’m concerned about the next 12 million or 20 million. So that’s why enforcement, and enforcement at the border, has to be primary."

That's exactly the point of the 'leaking boat' analogy. You plug the holes in the border, THEN you worry about dealing with those already here.

I don’t think he sounds so great. Mostly speaking in cliches.

His description of the Libby affair was way drawn out. Maybe he didn’t realize how up to speed the radio audience is.

Speaking of Libby, Terry Jeffries was on earlier, and was disappointed when he said something like it was proved that he committed perjury, etc., then he drew the comparison to Clinton’s perjury and subsequent punishment.

What the heck is he supposed to DO about it? He’s come out strongly against it. But, NEWSFLASH! He’s not in the senate anymore!!!

That Superman costume he wore in Barbarians at the Gate was just a costume.

I don’t see what we are arguing about then.

Fred said he wants to shut down the borders, enforce policies that will make them want to leave, AND fund the enforcement agencies so they can arrest them and send them back where they came from.
