This is such a misleading article (and I’ve seen some posters here (not you) try to twist this as well..)
Thompson has said over and over that the States should vote on the issue (this has been translated incorrectly that the government should stay out of it)..
Many pro-lifers, including myself, believe this because it is the best way to make a change... if we just fought this at the federal level, nothing would ever get done... There is also the matter of the pure constitutionality of the issue and the types of laws the federal government can make versus state governments.

He said tonight he was not pro-abortion, but that he saw it as a states rights issue.
He feels each state should make their own law, but I also thought I heard he was not in favor of abortion in principle tonight.

Fred Thompson is supported by George P Bush and many of President Bush’s people. I don’t trust him.

Hmmm....this man believes the Consitution means what it says?
He is attracted to beautiful women?
Yeah, he’s totally unacceptable....

I’ve heard it all before... they just blew a once in a century opportunity...still no real conservatism, only relative conservatism.

How many times is this same crap going to be posted?

I trust Hunter.
Anywho, what is wrong with George P. Bush.. the nephew has pretty much stayed out of the spotlight..
His last name. Fred is just another establishment candidate who is pretending to be a conservative.

I see, guilt by birth..
..and it’s funny you are calling Fred, just another establishment candidate, a lot of others are complaining he left the senate and doesn’t have the ‘establishment’ experience..
Hunter is one of the best conservatives in the field, but he plays the establishment game sometimes.. he voted for a lot of pork including the highway bill.. does that make him a RINO, hell no, like I said, he is one of the best conservatives, no one is 100%..

Ed Gillespi You could spell it correctly__ it might at least give the impression that you know what you're talking about.

George P. Bush? Which one is that? Jeb's kid?
I'll find out shortly if Bushbots are 4 Fred, but a lot of Bush supporters are no longer Bush supporters. There's time to check this out. If he's a globalist running as a conservative, he's out. Time will tell.

Fred voted for LEGAL guest workers, the vote had NOTHING to do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and did not relate to the current illegal crop in any way. Don’t mix up legal and illegal immigration.
Fred also said he was wrong on the Campaign Finance vote...
Hunter voted for dozens of pork bills, including the highway bills.. you aren’t going to get a 100% candidate

Any conservative firing at Fred Thompson is firing at his own foot - with his foot in his mouth.
Thompson may not be perfect - nobody is - but he far and away the best aside from a couple of others who have reduced chances so far in the primaries due to lack of money or press.
My first choice is Hunter, but Thompson is quite satisfactory if Hunter doesn’t make it.
